About this listen

It was an invite to die for…

When the anonymous invite arrived, we knew exactly who it was from.

Elle Romero, the beautiful, charismatic Texan who burst into our lives when we were teenagers.

We'd gone our separate ways and lost touch. Until now.

Elle, the legendary prankster, is back.

She's invited us all—me, Claire, Lizzie and Megan—to a swanky country house for a reunion.

We arrive excited for a weekend of reminiscing and reconnecting. A chance to step out of our uneventful lives for a while.

But when Elle fails to show up at her own party, we begin to wonder if she's up to her old tricks.

And when a body turns up in the cellar, it seems this time the joke might just be on us…

The Invite is the twisty, addictive new thriller by A J McDine, author of No One I Knew.

I enjoyed all of the different stories building and changing as they grew. The characters were more than surface people as the book went along. The main story kept a good pace and kept you wondering exactly what was going to happen.

Good buildup and fast paced thriller

There was a lot of dialog. The book seem unnecessarily long. It wasn't a horrible book, but I wouldn't want to reread it.

Not too bad

Totally hooked from the very beginning. I need to know what the brother intent is?

Enjoyed this one. Sometimes got lost with the characters, but that was probably more my distraction than anything else. Good narrators as well.

This author is completely new to me so I was very skeptical going in.
But the summary truly peaked my curiosity and seemed like it might be exactly the kind of book I love.
I’m delighted to say this is a well crafted story filled with throughly developed characters and a super creepy setting.
I’ve read all of these “isolated place/girl’s weekend/the call is coming from inside the house” kind of books but this one truly freaked me out, spooked me.
I loved it.
The narration is exceptional, the characters are relatable, and premise is absolutely terrifying.
Certainly a book I will revisit, it’s that good.

Fantastic

The story has a lot of potential but it just stops leaving a huge unfinished piece. There doesn’t appear to be a sequel and most of the story is wrapped up. Not up to this author’s normal standard of excellence.

Story just stops

This is the first book Ive read by this author. I really enjoyed it. The ending was absolutely brilliant and I hope it means there is a sequel.

The story was suspenseful and creepy. But the ending had no twist, so the whole thing fell rather flat. Illustrates the flaws of the British health system.

Disappointing ending

Lots of twists and turns in this book, which keeps it very interesting! You think you know what is going to happen only to realize something else just did. Very enjoyable! Going to look for other books from this author All of the narrators were excellent!

Never assume!
