Publisher's summary

Beloved writer Sean Dietrich - also known as Sean of the South - will warm your heart with this rich and nostalgic tale of a small-town sheriff, a mysterious little girl, and a good-hearted community pulling together to help her.

Folks in Moab live for ice cream socials, baseball, and the local paper’s weekly gossip column. Sheriff Winston Browne has watched over Moab with a generous eye for a decade, and by now he’s used to handling the daily dramas that keep life interesting for Moab’s quirky residents.

But just after Winston receives some terrible, life-altering news, a seemingly mute runaway with no clear origin arrives in Moab. The residents do what they believe is right and take her in - until two suspicious strangers arrive and begin looking for her. Suddenly Winston has a child in desperate need of protection - as well as a secret of his own to keep.

With the help of Moab’s goodhearted townsfolk, the humble and well-meaning Winston Browne still has some heroic things to do. He finds romance, family, and love in unexpected places. He stumbles upon adventure, searches his soul, and grapples with the past. In doing so, he just might discover what a life well-lived truly looks like.

Sometimes ordinary people do the most extraordinary things of all.

Praise for The Incredible Winston Browne:

“Sean Dietrich has written a home run of a novel with The Incredible Winston Browne. Every bit as wonderful as its title implies, it’s the story of Browne - a principled, baseball-loving sheriff—a precocious little girl in need of help, and the community that rallies around them. This warm, witty, tender novel celebrates the power of friendship and family to transform our lives. It left me nostalgic and hopeful, missing my grandfathers, and eager for baseball season to start again. I loved it.” (Ariel Lawhon, New York Times best-selling author of I Was Anastasia)

“Make no mistake. [The Incredible Winston Browne] is a classic story, told by an expert storyteller.” (Shawn Smucker, author of Light from Distant Stars)

Thought Provoking

It took me a bit to determine who the characters were, but that’s one of the down sides of audible books. One or two interruptions and those words are gone or I’m backing up constantly. But I listened to it twice, and everyone and everything fell into place.
What talent Sean Dietrich has to be able to create a town of folks with assorted, serious issues, and leave the reader smiling and grateful for this reading journey.
AND I’m thrilled that there are authors who can write an interesting novel without me cringing from foul language. I’ve paid for and abandoned many a book because of an author’s lack of talent who chooses cursing to take the place of more descriptive and stronger vocabulary.

Touching Tribute to a Southern Gentleman and Hero

Reminiscent of Harper Lee and Fannie Flag with a touch of Mark Twain throw in, WB held me tight for hours and hours. Read by the author, and I can’t imagine anyone else doing such a fine job. WB describes the last several months of a rural Sheriff’s life as lung cancer consumes him. Maybe it is because of that he sets out to spread love to his friends and townspeople. As a golden ages myself, it inspires me to do the same.

A beautiful love story to a wonderful man.

It’s such a joy to slip backwards into a slower and gentler town and live your life with good common folk.
Sean treatment of nostalgia isn’t maudlin or a misty, sappy interpretation but more a love story, written with care and respect for reality.
If you’re looking for a slow, kind and thoroughly enjoyable listen this book is for you.
Absolutely credit worthy!

This is one of my favorites.

I have over 150 books in my audible library. I have returned I don't know how many books in my audible history, but this one is one of my favorites. I love this book. it makes me laugh and it makes me cry. The story is great, but it's the characters that are fantastic, so alive. if you're on the fence about this book, get it. I don't think you'll want to return it.

Loved it!!

Sean Dietrich has quickly become one of my all-time favorite authors, and his narration truly bring his stories to life. I love the subtle humor that made me laugh out loud, and he captures the old-time Deep South perfectly. This book should be made into a movie!
