About this listen

Not since the bloody deeds of Jack the Ripper have Londoners felt such terror as that aroused by the gruesome beheadings in Hyde Park. And if newly promoted Police Superintendent Thomas Pitt does not quickly apprehend the perpetrator, he is likely to lose his own head, professionally speaking. Yet even with the help of Charlotte Pitt’s subtle investigation, the sinister violence continues unchecked. And in a shocking turn of events that nearly convinces the pair of sleuths that they have met their match, the case proves to be Pitt’s toughest ever.

Great story

But I would have enjoyed a bit faster pace by the reader. Still quite fine recording.

I like Jenny Sterlin

After reading a few other reviews and listening to samples, I chose not to continue this series after Davina Porter left off narrating. But then some of these were offered free and I gave a listen, and I like Sterlin's narration just fine. Thomas is a bit sluggish, but overall, it's just as good. I found the ending of this one a bit ridiculous. I don't know what the laws were back then, but today a good lawyer could rip the case apart after Lucy and Ethel pulled such a stunt. It also doesn't look good for Thomas, in my opinion, that his wife does a lot of the detecting. But all ended well, just as it always does.

Any twister ending!!

I throughly enjoy these characters! I’m still getting used to the new narrator’s voice. I find that I have listen her at 1.1 speed in order to enjoy her.

Better narration!

I love the Pitt mysteries, so it’s a given I like the story. However, the change in narrators In the previous book was jarring. I think Ms. Sterlin made some needed adjustments to her style, and it worked. I enjoyed the book immensely and barely thought about the narration, which is exactly as it should be.

the ill treatment of a skilled and very capable man by the upper class.

I loved the ending scene in the green house when both sisters find the final clue.

I love this series!

Took me a minute to get used to the new narrator, but she is excellent. The story is as fantastic as always!

This was so good. I think I figured out who it was but truly on pins and needles for Pitt.

Great story, weak narration

I enjoyed the plot twists of the story. The narration lacks flair but if you listen at 1.15 speed it is better.

another of Ann Perry's very interesting mysteries

I always find this author's work very interesting and part because of the attention to historical detail and, of course, because the mysteries are exciting. again I recommend highly.
