Great story, great performance
The story is both very informative and thrilling, even though a bit unrealistic :). I like the performance, not least the Russian-English voices, which to my mind, having been a lot in Russia were very authentic.

Horrible narration
Good thing I had read the novel first, otherwise the robotic narration devoid of emotion would have never allowed me to finish this grand epic of a tale. Story 5 stars, narration 0, but alas the lowest rating is 1.

Still the best Tom Clancy
Tom Clancy was a product of the cold war and his books were best when it was still ongoing. Doing well to provide a rich background, a good story arch, and intersperse thrilling action into the story, The Hunt For Red October is perhaps his best.
The narrator was clear and easy to follow. They give the feeling for being new and budding in this field. Quality wavers, enough to be noticed, not enough to stop listening. Plain narration tends to get kind of stodgy while dialogue flows smoothly.

Great Story
The story waw great as all clancy novels are but the narration was appaulling. Thae narrator was unable to change his voice for the different characters and they all merge into one. It was difficult to listen to. They need to redo it with someone who can really narrate an audio book.

a great classic
I've listened to it the second time and enjoyed it a lot.
What a world we've left behind.
Only a few decades ago...
So many people don't remember, but it's still alive in this book.

Gripping till the last minute
The storyline is captivating from the very beginning to the last minutes of the book. In the more intense moments of the book, the shifting of the point of view from one setting to the other adds suspense and makes it almost impossible to pause or walk away. I don’t know of any other book that captures submarine warfare with such detail and precision.
