Good Book and Good Riddance

The book is excellent. Well researched and solid narrative. In the end though, good riddance to such narcissistic and self indulgent family. Their demise was self made!

An Amazing Tale of Family, Luxury Brands and Betrayal

I couldn’t have imagined that I could be so interested in a story about a fashion brand. There were so many details about the inner workings of the family, the inner workings of the company and all the ups and downs. The fact that there is a murder at the heart of it was just the cherry on top of a giant three scoop Sunday with all the toppings you could imagine. 20 hours flew by as I sat riveted to the story.

Just ok

This book is ok. The writing is fine but not engaging. It reads like a dissertation for a master’s degree in Fashion History. I keep waiting to be tested on the contents.

Sad…

This is a sad commentary on people so obsessed with something as inconsequential as clothing, that it destroyed many of their relationships and, in some cases, their own lives. What a waste…

Good stuff a little slow in the beginning

Intriguing but it starts slow. There are so many characters in this true story. The timelines skip based character development and story development. I ended up enjoying the audio book despite its slow start.

Excellent Read

One of the most enjoyable audible books I have listened too. Very good detailed story of the life of Mauricio and Patrizia Gucci.

This story is more than I thought

I watched the movie before I read the book, which is great if not I would have been annoyed with it. so many details were left out, and I understand so many details yo fit in one 2 hours is not possible. But I wish they would have added more important details that were crucially missing. I strongly recommend reading the book especially if you watched the movie.

80% business 20% murder

*** 3.5 Stars *** The bulk of this novel is about the fashion house industry, business models and decisions, happenings behind the boardroom doors, and everything else that a billion dollar family industry involves. I did find this information interesting but dry as well. As for the actual murder, the book only dedicates about four chapters (if you include parts of the epilogue and afterward) to this part of the Gucci story.

Great history. Story hard to follow at times.

Heating the inside scoop on the family history of the luxury fashion brand was fascinating and exciting. The author told the story from one person's perspective over a period of time (sometimes many years). Then he would tell another family members story over a span of years. It would have been better if he followed a timeline intertwining each person's perspective during each major event.

Well done!

Really like the story amidst the chronicle of details. Kept me interested. Now I want to purchase more Gucci products.
