About this listen

Coryn, Earl of Ardeth, has spent an eternity in Hell. Fed up, he gambles with the Devil and wins a second chance: if he can find his heart, his soul, and his hourglass in six months, he can return to life.

Then he meets Genie, a disgraced water-girl at the Battle of Waterloo. Now, her only hope is this crazy stranger - and she's half-terrified of and half-in-love with the eccentric earl. Together they have to find his humanity, her social acceptance, and overcome someone bent on destroying their lives.

Satisfying

This is an intriguing fairytale about love and death. Very thoughtfully written. I’ll probably listen to it again. There are layers of meaning here.

Different

I have listened to almost all (if not all) of Barbara Metzger’s audiobooks. I find her stories to be full of great wit, wonderful insight of human nature and wisdom about what truly makes people happy. This book is much different from her usual style or story lines. She does have a few books that delve into a much more spiritual aspect of life, this storyline more so then others I have come across. This book does not have the depth of wit that I’ve come to enjoy from this Author but it still has the depth of human insights along with the need for love and forgiveness. I think all her books are a gem in themselves - this one included.
