Acerca de esta escucha

The year is 2065, and Washington, D.C. stands on the brink of collapse after the United States loses the information war, leaving society fractured into cutthroat tribal factions. In the midst of this chaos, Feonix Cheenoma—a brilliant young editor from one of the city’s poorest wards—receives a desperate plea from her dying uncle: enter a contest to lead Station 7, the last media empire still claiming to be trustworthy, and restore a fragile democracy on the verge of destruction.

But as Feonix digs into the stories that Station 7 refuses to tell, she unravels a tangled web of lies, power plays, and shocking family secrets—discovering that even the “last trustworthy source” may not be what it seems.

With the fate of a fractured nation hanging in the balance, she must decide how far she’s willing to go to uncover the truth, all while wrestling with her growing attraction to the contest’s arrogant yet compelling victor, James Han.

If you love a kickass female lead, a post-apocalyptic setting that grapples with propaganda and disinformation, and a gripping story packed with action and romance, this is the book for you.

Influenced by the author’s real experiences as a journalist and U.S. government press officer, The Herd offers an unflinching look at how media and government propaganda can shape society. It’s the first installment in The Herd Series, delivering a cautionary vision of our future that feels all too real.

Fiction or reality

The Herd written and narrated by Jenny Abamu is an excellent post- apocalyptic thriller. The narration is excellent and you can feel the emotion put into it. The story is interesting, engaging, thrilling, entertaining, and it feels truthful. This story seems like it could come true. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. Highly recommend

Loved it. Hooked me & didn't let me go.

Straight outta the gate the author jostles you to pay attention and had me needing to read on.

I immediately wanted to keep mentally pinch zooming out to absorb more and more of the context of our heroines world.

Gratefully, I got the opportunity as the author unfurled a vivid picture of an all too feasible, and likely not too distant, potential future.

The author did an excellent job with the narration!

I have read tons of political thrillers, science fiction, and dystopia. The Herd scratched my itch for all three. The author did a great job riding the line spanning the genres, applying just the right touch of each in the right places with the grace of a figure skater.

It's no surprise that an author who has the perspective of being a journalist, former U.S. diplomat, and reporter would excel at bringing this story to life so well.

Can't wait for the sequel!

Yay Black women scifi!

This story is uniquely fascinating in that it is designed for this time. I think particularly if you're a black woman who loves sci-fi, you will love this book. If you love strong female leads, kind of survival, dystopia, love subplots, and you will really enjoy this book.

Intriguingly dark story about the importance of freedom of press

This was a gritty story that played into my fears about the possibility of losing democracy and the danger we already face with misinformation spread everywhere. It’s narrated by the author which feels like an immediate connection between her and her readers.
A lot happens in the span of 6 narration hours, my mind is still reeling. I’ll be looking forward to reading this book again when the sequel comes out.
