About this listen

We hide in shadows. Our planet is lost. We are the last humans, and we must go home. Two thousand years ago, aliens destroyed Earth. Our fleets shattered. Billions died.

The last humans fled a burning planet, heading to the stars. Today we are still refugees. Hungry. Afraid. Our enemies hunt us everywhere. So we hide. On distant asteroids. In rundown space stations. In deep caves on frozen worlds. And we dream. Of green hills. Blue skies. Golden fields. We dream of Earth. And for the first time, we have hope.

A few of us, just a handful of brave souls, form the Heirs of Earth. We are humans who stand tall. Who fight back. Aliens call us terrorists. The humans we save call us heroes. We have starships, weapons, and warriors. We can bring humanity home. Earth is far. We have not seen her in many generations. But we have not forgotten. Earth is our heritage. Earth is our birthright. We will return!

Heirs of Earth

This book is unique in that the development of the alien population is very detailed and allows reader to visualize the description.
I also loved the character dedication to earth- refreshing.

Enjoyable

I enjoyed the Earthrise series and had high hopes for this one. I like how it has references to the original but so far it is its own story. I will say that every time a reference was made where the character should have been used to something different, for example being higher in status than a fly, really pulled me out of the story. All the sudden what I see as a glaring mistake sucked me out from feeling like I was living in the story. Other than that I look forward to the rest of the series.

Wild Galaxy

The story is far into the future where Earth has been lost to invasion. Now humans are scattered and hunted by alien scorpions. Hated by most of the crazy alien species. This Milky Way galaxy is filled with every type of alien you can think of. The story was good but it’s the set up novel. Good action and a fast pace. The narrator does a good job.

an astounding tale of whimsy and action

one part space opera, one part goofy action adventure. The duo that is Daniel Arenson and Jeffrey Kafer breathes life into a story of daring heroes and unexpected companions that are only highlighted by the world of dozens of uniquely vivid aliens and dazzling ships and stations.

A good relaunch

I did like the previous series. Up to about book six. At that point it got a bit tired and ridiculous, or as they say on TV “Jumped the Shark”.

So I was a bit apprehensive but the first book was actually enjoyable, if at times a bit heavy handed, and I am cautiously optimistic about the next book.

I just hope that Aaronson doesn’t drag it out too much again. The story has some legs but I can’t see 9 books coming out of it. A trilogy though should be fun.

Interesting Role Reversal

Humans are not the apex species, hunted and on the run! Interesting twist to a pretty good story. I wish there were a bit more in the way of a military feel to the book as that is what it is trying to portray with the humans that are left and how they are fighting the Scorpions but the descriptions of the battles are still well down. I also wished the author did not repeat some of the flashback information so many times but other than that a pretty good listen.

A dark yet satisfying tale

It is a widely different space adventure story than I'm used to, but that's a good thing. So many story's never tell of the horrible things that could happen in space let alone war. This book tells the truth of the horror of war yet the inability to not fight. It's either fight or die

Started a bit slow, but soon caught on

Overall it was an enjoyable story and well narrated. It took a bit to flesh out the plot, but became engaging.
