About this listen

From USA Today bestselling author Olivia Miles comes the heartfelt story of the bond that brings three sisters together to face past regrets and the future of their family’s legacy.

After the death of their beloved aunt, the estranged Burke sisters reunite at their childhood home for an unforgettable summer, each harboring a secret. With their family once again at a turning point, they must overcome their differences to discover what the future holds for the lakefront house and each other.

Leah’s marriage is over, which somehow still doesn’t uncomplicate matters when she reconnects with her first love. Emma is tired of being the responsible one, stuck in her hometown by obligation to her family and by feelings for someone she can’t have. Sadie’s life in New York has all but fallen apart, and she’s haunted by the mistakes she made that led her so far away from home in the first place.

But when they learn that their ancestral estate is in danger of foreclosure, the sisters must find a way to mend the rifts between them to save the only true home they’ve ever known—and with it, maybe they can stitch themselves back together too.

Good Story about a family divided!

3.75 Stars for me!

This is a decent story about how a single event can tear a family apart. Three sisters are brought back together by the death of an Aunt after a 15 year separation. Communication is awkward as they dance around the issues yet decide to redo their childhood home into an Inn.

The primary conflict of the story is between two sisters in which one sister slept with the other sister's boyfriend (while they were on a break). The aggrieved sister cannot seem to move on yet she is semi-forced to work with her ex as he is running his father's bank.

More info is revealed throughout the story about each sister plus the relationship issues between their mom and their aunt.

The story is clean and has a Hallmark ending in which all is revealed and the sisters are rebuilding their family.

I did enjoy the story but the aggrieved sister drove me a bit nuts by withholding her current family status in the big city... 🤔

Fair

Had to stop a few chapters in, can’t take anymore of the narrator Vanessa Johansson! She drones on and on and on and on, I just cannot take her voice. A waste of my money.

The story is OK, sorry, overshadowed.

Didn't meet my expectations

I wanted to like this more than I did as I adore the author. The blurb sounded wonderful, interesting and l always love a HEA. What I got was three sisters, yet two I didn't really like all that much or connect with in any way. Sadie, who did a not great thing, ran and over looked back. It was a long time ago and she needed to both forgive herself and be forgiven. Leah was delusional and in my opinion a bit of a narcissist. While learning about her I kept thinking "is she serious?" while shaking my head. Lastly, Emma, who stayed in town so as to not abandon the aunt who lovingly raised them while she abandoned any thoughts of to her own hearts desires and wanting so much more, while also hanging onto an unrealistic dream of love with someone who has never shown an inkling of interest. There is ultimately a lovely resolution for them all, but for me it took way too long to get there.

Fun read about sisters and forgiveness

You can only hope other sisters read this and resolve any issues with family they have left behind. Forgiveness can be the easy part but moving on requires true character.

Great Family story

I enjoyed listening to this story about three sisters and their lives growing up and apart. The narrator did an excellent job of expressing all the feelings in this story. I look forward to listening to more stories from this author and this narrator.
