Publisher's summary
Following the tragic loss of their father, twelve-year-old Max, his elder sister Emily, and their mother Jane inherit the enigmatic Moonlight Mansion. Located in the secluded town of Greenville, this grand edifice, marked by its distinctive crescent moon motifs, seems like the perfect sanctuary for the grieving Blackwood family.
However, as they settle into their new home, it becomes clear that the mansion is not what it seems. Eerie whispers in the night, fleeting shadows in mirrors, and time-worn secrets hidden within its walls pull the family deeper into its supernatural embrace. Max, with his innate curiosity, finds himself at the center of a series of chilling encounters, each more mysterious than the last. Emily, despite her initial skepticism, is confronted by phenomena that defy explanation. Jane, in her quest for understanding, delves into the town's hushed tales, only to be met with more questions than answers.
The surrounding woods, with their labyrinthine paths and ghostly silences, further entwine the family in the mansion's haunting legacy. Memories, both comforting and terrifying, seem to come alive, leading them on a journey where the line between the supernatural and reality becomes increasingly blurred.
The Haunting of Moonlight Mansion is a gripping tale of a family's struggle with grief, intertwined with the mysteries of a haunted legacy. As the Blackwoods strive to decipher the mansion's enigmas, they are faced with a haunting question: In the dance of shadows beneath the crescent moon, what is real, and what is merely a specter of the mind?

Story
In The Worst of You, just-wed architects Timo and Nia flee a murder scene, setting in motion a chain reaction of lies and betrayals that threaten to unravel everything they have built together. Twisted and propulsive, this thriller is told from the alternating perspectives of the couple and those close to them on Williwaw Island, each with their own motive to use the outcome of the murder case to their advantage. When a huge storm sweeps up the coast, trapping everyone on tiny Williwaw Island, it’s a race against time—and the elements — to stop the murderer from striking again.

Story
It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

Captivating Spooky Mansion
Recovering from the untimely death of their husband/father, Jane and her children, Max and Emily, must adapt their lives to living without him. Jane inherits a mysterious Moonlight Mansion with ties to her husband and his family. The three discover that not everything is as it seems and there is a deadly supernatural force at work.
The author, Connor Biddle, weaves a supernatural-based story filled with emotions, fears, and a journey that borders between reality and the supernatural. The storyline is well-founded allowing for significant plot twists and intense moments. Accurately portrayed are the emotions of losing one’s father and the impact this loss has on a family. The supernatural adventure is clear and well-developed. The dialogue resonated in places and overall felt authentic. The complexity of the plot is intriguing yet remains easy to follow. This audiobook has a solid storyline and structure with rich characters and background.
The narrator, Robert Woody accurately projects the emotions and mystery around the Moonlight Mansion and its rich existence. Further, Woody accurately captures the sense of loss and emotion for each character in the storyline from Jane to Max to Emily to their father’s sister. He speaks clearly and concisely. His delivery intensifies the mystery and the moments of the supernatural in rich tones.
This is a rare book in which listeners of all ages will be captivated by the mystery, the blurring of reality versus the supernatural, and the intense connection of emotional experiences.
