I really enjoyed this book a lot, the story moved along at a very nice pace and really made you bond with the characters. my favorite thing is that the main characters really had flaws that any other person coyld have when going through a divorce. I think I had a little trouble with the narrator at first, she has a very unique voice. As the story went on though I really enjoyed the sound of her, and the way she was able to fistinctly give each character their own voices. It was not a scary book, but it definitwly kept me interested in the mystery and storyline.

so exciting

I enjoy a good ghost story and the reviews for the book format were good so I gave this book a go. I had a hard time getting into it and found the main character, Peyton, annoying through most of the book. I finally became interested in the story around chapter 14, and the following chapters were enjoyable until near the end, which was predictable. This is a book I won’t listen to again.

The story line and characters were great. I found myself not wanting to stop listening.

Great Ghost Story

At first I was a bit put out with the main character and what she wanted. She seemed as if she had a superiority complex. However as characters and new scenes and scenarios developed, I wanted to know what was going to happen next. Did not want the story to end.

I Miss This Book

I almost quit listening to this in the beginning. The narrator was awful at first. Her voice faded in and out at different volumes and it was taking away from the story. But it got better. Originally I was only going to give the narrator one star but I really liked the way she did the kids voices and some of the other characters voices. The plot of this book was excellent. I loved how the story flowed and enjoyed how it ended.
I LOVE haunted house movies, books, everything. If you love them then I highly recommend this listen. Just get through the first chapter and you’ll be fine.

I loved it

I have to say that the plot of this story was very creative and engaging. The narrator did a great job giving everyone a different voice so it was easy to tell who was speaking. I did have two major issues with the book:. The first is that I thought the main character, Peyton, was really dislikable. She seemed shallow and lazy, and I just never could vibe with her reasons for wanting to divorce Ben. I did like the other characters pretty well though. My second concern (and this one significantly detracted from my enjoyment of the story) was that this book really needed a more nitpicky editor. As several others have mentioned, there are parts of the book that reiterate everything that's already been written, almost like a "previously on" in a television series. There were also little continuity issues such as switching gender pronouns, stating a scene with a cappuccino that spontaneously becomes a black coffee, and some situations where characters who had met previously were introduced as if for the first time. I like the author's creativity and will read other books by her because if they are as interesting as this one without all the writing issues I anticipate they'll be quite enjoyable.

Great story with writing issues

This was a good story, a bit predictable, but the main character was written to be so self absorbed it made listening to her painful at times. I’m not one to talk to the t.v. or audiobooks, but I found myself with minor outbursts in regards to the selfish stupidity the main character complained about. It was hard to get through and honestly I’m not sure I would do it again. The plot was predictable enough that I may skip having to go through listening to her torture her husband. The narrator was incredible and I will search for other books she’s done.
