Publisher's summary
He brought you S’wanee: A Paranoid Thriller and The Union Club: A Subversive Thriller. Now the curtain rises on Don Winston’s most fiendish tale yet...
Betty Rose Milenski dreams of Broadway. Talented, ambitious, and obsessed, she was the biggest fish in college. But New York is a harsh wake-up. Unemployed and ignored, she faces a career as cocktail waitress instead of on the stage. And the clock is ticking. She jumps at an internship at the country’s most famous summer stock playhouse, in spite of its bizarre, all-controlling reputation. There, she joins a family of eccentric and endearing fellow actors and bonafide stars, lorded over by the benevolent dictator Rex Terrell. With nonstop shows to sold-out crowds—tucked away in a charming, Americana village—the Gristmill Playhouse is every actor’s summer dream.
But when a fellow intern mysteriously quits and warns her to flee, Betty Rose struggles to separate truth from make-believe even as she rises toward stardom. Is her growing terror and dementia a form of self-sabotage, or is the Gristmill grooming her for a final curtain call?
The Gristmill Playhouse. There’s no business like it.

Story
First they feasted on farm animals. Then they found humans.... A little girl was dead, attacked, and mutilated by some things, creatures of nightmare that were spreading outward like the Black Death, stripping the entire town bare of life. The death toll mounted, with bodies maimed or ripped to shreds, and thousands cowered in the shadows, hiding fearfully from the death out of the skies, the millions of sucking probosci eagerly reaching out for the attack.

Story
Summer, 1989. It is a time for splashing in the lake and exploring the wilderness, for nine teenagers to bond together and create friendships that could last the rest of their lives. But among this group there is a young man with a secret—a secret that, in this time and place, is unthinkable to his peers. When the others discover the truth, it will change each of them forever. They will all have blood on their hands. Odd Man Out is a heart-wrenching tale of bullies and bigotry, a story that explores what happens when good people don't stand up for what's right.

Robert and Janet Patterson and their young daughter, Krissy, went looking for the perfect getaway vacation spot. They found it in a backwoods Florida town. Far away from civilization. Quiet and peaceful. And terribly isolated. Robert and Janet should have listened to the local legends. They should have heeded the warnings about the blackwater lagoons. And they should have listened to their daughter when she told them about the whispers in the woods. Because now, it's too late. Krissy's disappeared, and whatever took their little girl is coming back for more....

dying to get the part
What a creepfest!! Cult is the only good describer. It gave me goosebumps to listen at times. Dark and suspenseful. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job.
