This book was composed by St. Alphonsus Liguori during a time of criticism of Marian devotions. St. Liguori brings his considerable knowledge of Scripture and the Church Fathers to bear on the issue, showing their devoted support of the Virgin Mary. St. Liguori also includes the Marian prayers and practices that he is familiar with.

This work is divided into two main sections:

1. An explanation of the Salve Regina (Hail Holy Queen), where he explains how God graced the world with Mary as a "Gate of Heaven", echoing St. Bonaventure's words, "No one can enter Heaven unless by Mary, as though through a door"
2. Discourses on various feasts that involve Mary, such as the Immaculate Conception and the Nativity

Amazing book - some technical mistakes

The book content is amazing and very edifying.

However there is a section that is repeated - it would be great if the publishers could fix that.

Helped me fall in love with Our Lady more

This book is a must read for all Christian. It contains a lot of information about our Blessed Lady. I particularly liked the examples.

Information that should be known

In my opinion. I think this book should have been read by a female. I believe books on males should be read by males. Female should be read by females. I find it hard to keep the continuity flowing remembering that it is about a female

Very beautiful

St. Alphonsus beautifully explains why the Church has so honored the Blessed Virgin, and why all Christians should venerate her and implore her help. Would definitely recommend to any Catholic looking to increase their devotion to our Lady.

Easy listening for a religious book

As the theology content is minimal and the reading is abundant in short anecdotes it lends well for an audiobook. Reader is too monotone though which atempts agains keeping attention for longer spans.

Perfect Narrator

Of course, the continent is sterling, as it from another doctor of the church. I want to speak to the narration, which I think was perfect. Narrator was excellent, he had the right tone, neurite timber, rate piece. Everything. Highly recommended. And, of course, pray the rosary every day!

Wonderful

This book provides great information on the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Graces God granted her and her availability to intercede for us is truly most beautiful.

My new top pick to listen to over and over!

This is not a heady book: it’s a saint scrolling through other saints experiences with Mary, our sweet peaceful queen. It’s got lots of anecdotes great for short attention span and for playing in the background. The narrator’s mellow and easy to listen to and is obviously enjoying the subject too. My own perspective on our friend Mary, the first of the Redeemed, is even better at just one read. And Jesus for so quietly giving her to us, He actually is behind all this not even Mary out humbles Jesus but the contest is steep! Very very sweet to listen to, this narration creates an amazing space! I think it will be great at Christmas.

So encouraging!

This book gives one so much home and direction. St. Alphonsus shows Our Lady’s true love for us.
