About this listen

Everything happens for a reason.

At least that’s what everyone keeps telling Liam Cooper after his older brother, Ethan, is killed suddenly in a hit-and-run.

Feeling more alone and isolated than ever, Liam has to not only learn to face the world without one of the people he loved the most, but also face the fading relationships of his two best friends in the process.

Soon, Liam finds themself spending time with Ethan's best friend, Marcus, who might just be the only person that seems to know exactly what they're going through - for better and for worse.

The Ghosts We Keep is an achingly honest portrayal of grief. But it is also about why we live. Why we have to keep moving on and why we should.

Authentic to the Corr

I am highly recommending the book called, “The Ghost We Keep” by Mason Deaver. I do not recommend it to anyone that cannot handle sad themes and extremely honest life situations. These characters make mistakes and are certainly not perfect. My 15-year-old, Charlotte, is a voracious reader. She recommended this book to me. I can’t thank her enough as I sometimes wrestle with fully understanding the difference between my teenage world and teenagers today. I am a 53 year old Dad that always wants to see the world through other perspectives. But I too am not perfect. I struggle getting used to lifestyles that are different from when I was that age. Not because I don’t like or want them to exist. I just feel like I am trying to catch up to be fully aware of others. This book was fantastic at making some connections for me. Thank you!

Amazing

This book was so heart wrenching I was almost in tears reading it, when lee was having problems with their friends it really reminded me of me with mine. The concept of the book was so beautiful the stories with Marcus and Ethan were just so sweet. I love mental health books, I think it’s important to know about these kinds of things so I loved that this book had a lot of it. Overall I really really loved and enjoyed this book.:)

Too much

This book was lovely written, but is. Harsh. Too harsh. Im not sure how i feel but for the fact that i am tired. And upset and sad. I know a good book should make you feel. But i am overwhelmed.
