Publisher's summary

Now an original series starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers and listeners around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

The seals of Shayol Ghul are weak now, and the Dark One reaches out. The Shadow is rising to cover humankind.

In Tar Valon, Min sees portents of hideous doom. Will the White Tower itself be broken?

In the Two Rivers, the Whitecloaks ride in pursuit of a man with golden eyes, and in pursuit of the Dragon Reborn.

In Cantorin, among the Sea Folk, High Lady Suroth plans the return of the Seanchan armies to the mainland.

In the Stone of Tear, the Lord Dragon considers his next move. It will be something no one expects, not the Black Ajah, not Tairen nobles, not Aes Sedai, not Egwene or Elayne or Nynaeve.

Against the Shadow rising stands the Dragon Reborn....

Critic reviews

"The Wheel of Time...is a fantasy tale seldom equaled and still less often surpassed in English." ( Chicago Sun-Times)
"Jordan has a powerful vision of good and evil - but what strikes me as most pleasurable...is all the fascinating people moving through a rich and interesting world." (Orson Scott Card on The Wheel of Time)

Expectations Thoroughly Exceeded!

I came to the Wheel Of Time series very late in the game, only to witness the heartbreaking loss of Robert Jordan. I must admit I was very skeptical of Mr Sanderson coming in to finish the job (visions of the Dune series haunting me) but he far exceeded my expectations.

Maybe it's blasphemous to say this -- but I think Sanderson's style is, in some places, superior to Jordan. It is very obvious (even without listening to the short interview included herein) that he adores the series and put all his creative passion into doing it justice.

Ignore the previous review about the ending. Utter foolishness. It's been known for a long time that it would be at least two books as the outline was far too long. Even Jordan quipped that he would finish even if the book was 1200 pages, which is simply not realistic from a publishing point of view.

I eagerly look forward to the next installment of Sanderson's vision.

The best WOT book yet.

Finally, this series is back on track. I was getting a bit tired of the last.... well... half of the series or so. I was so far invested though, I just couldn't give it up. I'm glad I didn't! Brandon Sanderson has injected some new inspiration into Robert Jordans last work. I'm not sure who deserves most of the credit for this book: Jordan or Sanderson, but I applaud both of them and hope the next two books are equal to this one. If you started this series with great hope, then got bogged down a bit in the middle, take heart, the end is shaping up to be great!

Excellent book!

I'm a big fan of the WOT series. This book (after an intro section that is strange) is REALLY well written. I feel like Brandon Sanderson did a great job pulling together all those loose ends Robert Jordan left after his last several books. Robert Jordan seemed to lose focus in his last couple of books. This book portrays all of the characters very well and the narrators do a great job with the story. I would recommend this book. If someone is unfamiliar with the WOT series it will be difficult to appreciate what is happening in this story so I'd recommend reading the other books in the series first (particularly up through book 8).

Thank God He Pulled It Off!

Fantastic. I was a little worried in the beginning with all the "blood and bloody ashes" comments but he warmed up fast and kept it rolling! Lots of great conclusions. Rand and Igwane took big steps. the rest must be focused on in the next two books. - I do agree that Avienda and Faile were a little weak but at least one of them took steps to start a good story in Towers of Midnight. I think Brandon S. just threw a little of Matt in for a crowd pleaser to get his upcoming trip introduced. Seems a lot of people are worried since he was barely brushed on but just wait. His and Toms upcoming trip will probably be the whole next book!
Loved it! Cant wait for the next one! On to start First Lord's Fury now!

The end is in sight.

I am feeling WOT fatigue. I love the series but am honestly ready to finish.

This installment was good but I didn’t feel it was special. A few things felt too convenient.

Going to take a break for a few weeks and then tackle the last 2 in the series.

Brandon Sanderson!

I don't think a better author could have been picked to complete the Wheel of Time. Brandon Sanderson is one of my favorite authors. I do believe The Stormlight Archive may come to rival The Wheel of Time, or better yet they may complement each other.

So much better than previous books. . .

I can't express enough how much more gripping this writing style is, as well as, the events taking place in this book are compared to the previous 11 (12) books. And Kate and Michael seem to come alive as well.

Just as good

Sanderson does a great job of taking up where Jordan left off. The characters seem just as real if anything, more compassionate. I may even like Sanderson's style better but it's a close match.
