About this listen

Discover the freedom and fullness of spirit unfolding today.

If the Buddha, Saint Teresa, or an enlightened shaman walked into the room today, would they find themselves in need of some serious spiritual catching up? The surprising answer, says Ken Wilber, is yes.

Integral evolutionary thinkers today are seeing a burst of accelerating shifts in human consciousness: in our emotional and cognitive lines of intelligence, our creative and moral capacities, our sense of self, and more. And as this landscape of knowledge grows, so does the potential of our own spiritual lives - in ways that even meditation and other inward practices alone cannot provide.

What is the evidence for this upward spiral in our spiritual intelligence? And if it's true, how do we experience these shifts directly, within ourselves? The Future of Spirituality explores these emerging possibilities to help you discover their profound influences in your own life and in the world around you.

"The enlightened persons of today and of 2,000 years ago are equally free," says Wilber. But now, for the first time in human history, we have the potential for a far more expansive, fuller spiritual experience than ever before possible. This is the territory that you are invited to explore, with The Future of Spirituality.

Excellent primer

This is a great introduction to integral theory in general. I personally love the conversation style that was used.

Like it!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I like this audio book, as it was a good listen. Ken Wilber seems to have researched and thought about various aspects of spirituality more than anyone on the planet. Some of his writings and books are hard to follow, but this audiobook seemed clear to me. I liked a great deal about it, including the part where he talks about not wanting to create a Ken Wilber cult or following.

a decent overview of wilber's material, but...

this was more or less a recapitulation of other work by ken wilber. not much beyond kosmic consciousness in here. and we could really use another person to interview him, other than tammy simon of sounds true. her interviews tend to focus on her shortcomings of understanding, and do not press too deeply into the analysis or examples. maybe she could share the interview task with someone else, someone less of a psychophant and more of a rationalist, since that is the prevalent modality of our civilization.

Great overview of a fuller spirituality

This was an easy listen that reviewed integral theory in a beautiful context, for a more complete spirituality. This is a must-have for any modern spiritual teacher and student.

Exactly what I needed!

What made the experience of listening to The Future of Spirituality the most enjoyable?

I have been on a long-term spiritual study that has included many of Ken's other works. I have a lot of christian friends who I respect, but just do not resonate with their perspectives. I listened to this and "duh!" now I know why. I always had a sense that it was developmental, but this really pins it down for me. Tami Simon interviews Ken with perfect balance of both clarifying and challenging questions. In fact many times, I would be listening and have a question come to mind and wouldn't you know it, Tami would ask it! I would love to have the text of this interview. It would be nice to study both the recording and text.I have made giant strides in my understanding of my place in the range of spiritual perspectives. Thank you Ken Wilber!

What did you like best about this story?

Ken's openness to all perspectives and his depth of understanding.

Excellent overview and exploration

Tami Simon interviews Ken Wilber on the width and breadth of what integral spirituality is and how understanding and embodying its foundational principles contributes to our experience and understanding of what it is to be fully awake, mature, and evolved as human beings.

Loved it!

Wow! This really works for me, an eclectic with intellectual curiosity whose main interest is Life and spirituality. I trust Wilber because he is humble, sincere, serene, intelligent, informed, and kind. Thank you Tami and Ken for a delightful and helpful time.

One of the Most Revealing Ken Wilber Interviews

It took me four years to get back to review this. As a student of KW's Evolutionary Dynamics I came back to this interview by Tami Simon and found it to be one of the most personal and revealing interviews of him I've heard, especially chapters 4, 5, and 6.
One of my favorite insights has to do with my own belief around how great ideas tend to play second fiddle to our worship of the person who brings us the idea, especially in America where we are experiencing the apex (hopefully) of the Cult of Personality phenomenon.
In this interview we hear how and why KW refuses the role of leader (or guru) which explains so much about how the Integral teachings are now being taught by many in a variety of fields without the heavy-handed presence of the founder overshadowing their light. I truly admire Ken and his work and I love the freedom from feeling as if I have to bow to his greatness in order to learn what he teaches. Actually makes me admire him more, with much less conscoius effort.

Engaging & Transformative to the best

A very enjoyable dialogue, similar to Kosmic Consciousness. I have enjoyed everything I've read and listened from Ken Wilber.
