Acerca de esta escucha

"My dear Watson. I do not think I am flattering myself when I say that 221B is well-understood in criminal circles."

Within this volume you will find a collection of previously unpublished accounts by John H. Watson, M.D. that take Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson from London into the home counties and the south coast in the pursuit of villains and justice.

Why is a banker's daughter threatened with an Indian dagger after a trip to the theatre?
Why does a young woman's fiancé break their engagement but keep asking after her wellbeing?
Why does a wealthy baronet empty his pockets before fainting at The Royal Opera House?
How does Watson fare when Holmes sends him to assist an investigation in Surrey?

Caiden Cooper Myles is a British writer, who has long been a follower of Mr. Holmes and Dr. Watson. Like many a devotee of the Great Detective, he has longed to add to Dr. Watson's accounts.

I found the stories delightfully reminiscent of the Canon, but with a bit of a more modern sensibility. I recognized callbacks to some original stories, and yet are new and different.

The reader did a very solid job, but did misread and mispronounce some words. Grr!

Still worth reading!

Definitely a good listen

Holmes has become a mythic figure, and, as such, his canon is a living, evolving thing, with new works which bear various degrees of similarity to the original. Sampling some of the newer offerings, it quickly becomes clear that, even when the author is trying to capture the feel of the originals (which is not always the case), the difficulties of pace, language, plot, and many other subtleties of the writing are a great challenge. This book by "Caiden Cooper Myles" comes the closest of all those to which I've listened. For those who want something which most closely resembles the original article, rather than spinoffs about Holmes's relatives or supernatural adventures, I recommend this volume most highly, and only hope that Caiden Cooper Myles is busy writing new/old adventures of Holmes and Watson!
For those who want to go back and listen to the originals, Stephen Fry's comprehensive volume, also available on Audible, is terrific...

True to Conan Doyle!

I’ve listened to hours and hours of Sherlock stories written by contemporary authors and they almost all feel very obviously inauthentic. These tales absolutely feel like they could have been written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The narrator is second best I’ve heard so far, and I am counting him second to Stephen Fry’s narration of the entire Holmes collection.

Best unofficial Holmes tales

The stories in this volume are entertaining in the Holmsian fashion - few abrupt plot twists. The performance is well done. I'm some recordings the performance can grate on the ears either with a non agreeable tone or either a rushed or more often too slow pace. The boxes in this volume are agreeable all around.
