About this listen

Of other numerous works of Clement, of which only a few stray fragments have been preserved, the chief are the eight books of The Hypotyposes, which consisted of expositions of all the books of Scripture. Of these we have a few undoubted fragments. The Adumbrations, or Commentaries on some of the Catholic Epistles, and The Selections from the Prophetic Scriptures, are compositions of the same character, as far as we can judge, as The Hypotyposes, and are supposed by some to have formed part of that work.

Great little book, but indeed very "fragmentary"

I bumped into Clement of Alexandria (not to be confused with the Apostolic Father, Clement) in a book on Origen. This is a good little (that is, about 103 minutes) collection of his works, largely as they appear quoted in other surviving sources. Some good spiritual insight and nuggets of wisdom, as well as a smidge of Church history that was very appropriate listening during Lent. One of the best things about the book to me was the narrator, who attacked sentences with an enthusiasm that made the work come alive. A great use of $5 and 2 hours.
