Fun Story

Nothing special, but a fun story. I think chapter 7 was the gem in this story many great chuckles.

The lore

I adore Twilight Imperium! So when I found out there was books I was thrilled! I enjoyed it very much!

Slow to start

At first I didn't think much of the writing, yet it grew on me and I ended up enjoying it nonetheless.

A review from a huge TI fan

I play the game and LOVE TI. (If you don’t know, the world this book is based off of is Fantasy Flights IP “Twilight Imperium” which is a 4X board game) and I’m a huge lore junkie too so this book really scratched an itch for me. I loved the characters, especially Duval’s devils, and was pleasantly surprised by the romantic tension between certain characters. All in all it’s a great read with interesting twists. I would definitely recommend trying it out! I’ll be continuing the series for sure.

From the table to my ears....

I set very low expectations for this, and was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong. The start was a bit hard, without much history or character knowledge to set the scene, but it passes soon enough. The characters absolutely grow on you, and their accurate representation of the game factions was a bit surprising. I was excited to see the factions start to build little nests in my memory, giving me context about why the decisions i make in the game can matter, and giving justifications for getting a little mean if i have to.

Decent story in the TI universe

Some of the conversations were a little odd in the story, but the story as a whole was good! Great introduction ans explanation of some lore in TI. I enjoyed it and anyone who likes the game will like this.

Fun and full of fan service

loved how the book felt like the board game in different ways. if you love Twilight Imperium you will enjoy this book. now when I play TI, it will feel even more real.

This book is pretty terrible

The story is boring. The characters are simple and the dialogue is cliched. I love the TI universe but this book is pretty bad.

Awful

The reader is dreadful. The story is ridiculous. It seems fine as we learn about "ghosts" who stop the mad scientist's attempts to build wormholes by turning his equipment into sand and corrupt computer files held at a remote site. I abandoned ship when it was then revealed that the scientist kept paper copies of his work in boxes under his bed. The "ghotss" destroy stuff at different locations simultaneously yet miss the paper copies? Maybe with a less terrible reader, that chasm could be ignored but the combination is too much.
