Publisher's summary

I was 16 when I first met him. There were two types of kids in our school—those who had after-school jobs and those rich jerks who didn’t. I was neither. Technically, I fell into the second category since my parents had money for days, but they made me work. It didn’t matter to me, though. I liked working. I liked getting away from my parents for a while, so I worked part-time at a local grocery store that employed teenagers for cheap pay. It was hot, just a few days into the school year, and he was sitting in the freezer in the stockroom eating strawberry ice cream right out of the carton.

I was 17 when I first met her. My home life was miserable, so I enjoyed working after school at Wilkin's Market. I'd just finished unloading new stock when my life changed. I was eating ice cream when she passed the walk-in freezer toward the break room...and my heart exploded. Dana and Jordan. Jordan and Dana. Their names were synonymous with two other words—love and tragedy. Dana knew she would never love anyone the way she loved Jordan. Jordan knew he never wanted to be without Dana. But life had other plans.

A surprise character spin-off from The Yellow Note can also be listened to as a stand-alone (but it's more fun if you've listened to The Yellow Note). A young adult sweet romance series.

Emotional listen

This one was a bit unexpected honestly and probably my favorite I've read/listened from this author. It wasn't the tie in I was expecting but its a wonderful story. It's very much a roller coaster and while some might be a bit far fetched it's mostly accurate of how life can just be unpredictable and heartbreaking but turns out the way it should be. There are some issues with the audio in the beginning but it smoothes out.

Beautiful Messy Emotional Rollercoaster

Parents- PG- good for middle school to adults
Language- PG- minimal to nonexistent
Violence- PG- nothing too graphic - potentially triggering for victims of abuse
Sexual Content- PG Kissing, teen romance, and references to living together but no real details

Love and life can be messy... this was a beautiful and very emotional story about finding and losing love and all that life throws our way. I really loved this book and definitely recommend it.

Narrator- did a great job with the differentiations and was fun to listen to, there were some sound quality issues (a bit tunnelly) but not so bad to distract from the story.

Bittersweet!

With an introduction with strawberry ice cream to a spontaneous and immediate kiss, Jordan Clark and Dana Franklin are tied together forever. They are from different sides of the tracks, but their friendship is legendary and they vow that, no matter what happens, they will never forget each other for any reason, for as long as they live. They are soulmates and forever loves, but life interferes or throws them for a loop, and the forget me not pact is in peril. They were 16 and 17 when they met, and her parents will find anything to keep them apart. This is a bittersweet story, with more bitter than sweet. It was actually depressing in places, but there always was hope. The story is told along a literal timeline, with how many days into their relationship they are. As the story moved closer to the end, and the days added up, I hoped that Jordan and Dana would have that forever and ever happy ending. Amanda Morgan does an excellent job with the narration with her dynamic and well-modulated voice.

nice story

I really liked the story and the way it was built as jumps through the days/years.
The love story was sweet, even if at times touched by angst.
Unfortunately, the narration was bad - not the narrator, who was okay (though I would have preferred 2 narrators for the 2 POVs), but it sounded like it was recorded in a tunnel, and was missing some editing.
