About this listen

Another night at the races is more than burnt rubber with a hit of nitrous. For one young woman, it's navigating trauma, love, and loss in the stifling Texas heat under the watchful gaze of her brother’s best friend and reigning King of the Streets, Jordan Slater. Home in Arkadia again, Raelynn Casey starts to heal from a terrible incident at college. She finds love in Jordan, a member of her brother’s circle of racing buddies. When another in the racing circle, the guy who took her to her high school prom, exposes his feelings for Raelynn, tragedy erupts like a tank of race fuel. Guilt, remorse, and pain must be overcome before Raelynn and Jordan can race to The Finish Line.

Fantastic Story Telling

I wasn't sure what to expect when I read the blurb on this but it sounded intriguing. Am I glad I read this! Its intense in so many fantastic ways. Sometimes you will want to scream in frustration and others whoop in joy. This will make you feel ALL THE FEELS. The story is well paced and isn't just sex. It builds up all the characters and really lets you fall in love with each of them. You feel like you are on the streets with them. My dad used to Street Race and this brought back the thrill of what I'm sure he felt! I was just a wee baby when he ran his last few races and was un-defeatable in this area. This book is full of action, romance, secrets and thrills. I couldn't get enough of this story. I actually hope she does one from his perspective one day. This is a fabulous story and I would gladly read another perspective on it!! First book I've read by Leslie Scott and I'm in love with how she weaves a story. Giselle Lumas did an amazing job narrating this story!

Racing and Love mix well

All in all the story was good. I thought there were some really intense scenes in the book. Some were sad, some were happy and some were just plain intense. You’ll experience a lot of feelings while listening to this book but that’s not always a bad thing. There is good amount of background provided about the main characters and it’s sweet that Raelynn and Jordan have loved each other for so long. Of course there is some angst in the book when someone tries to come between the main characters but they find a way through it and make out together. The narration was ok, not the best I’ve heard but defiantly not the worst. The racing scenes were enjoyable and very well described. If you like love stories and racing I’m sure you’ll like this one.

GREAT BOOK!

I absolutely loved this book! This book was full of action and romance. The narration was superb and gave that extra flair to the story. You don't have to know not one single thing about street racing to be entertained. This author did a great job with her characters builds and plot. This was my first book by this author but definitely will not be my last. I will be looking forward to reading any other books released in this series (hopefully, she'll make it a series)! Didn't Hold My Interest

The blurb for this story sounded good but unfortunately, the story itself didn't hold up. I thought the story was a bit on the immature side of things. I don't mind second chance romances or racing (having grown up around it) but I just couldn't connect with this story trying to combine both. The racing scenes were good but the romance was lacking. Also, the narration fell really short for me. Giselle Lumas' pace was a bit fast for my tastes and I just don't feel like she was a good fit for this story. Overall, I just really had a hard time finishing this book.

GREAT STORY :)

Like the love/racing theme, I thought this was a really great book - lots of feelings all around, very intense with a lot of emotion. Will Raelynn & Jordan's love survive the turmoils ahead? Read and find out, it's a fantastic ride! I really enjoyed it, I liked the writing and the narration, thought all around a very good job. Would definitely listen to more from both author and narrator. If you like action and romance, you'll like this! :)

Finish Line Review...

Decent story and narration. Intense, sad, joyful. Narration okay - got used to her twang; but the the quality of narration production is not consistent first 2/3 of the book - seemed muffled at times. I was provided this audio book at no charge by the narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via AudiobookBoom dot com

demons

I really liked this book. it was about these people that did some street racing and put some romance into it too. there was two people that had liked each other since they were young but it never worked out. the one time the girl told the boy how she felt, he lied and said he didn't feel the same way. by the time the two got together, each one had a pair of demons that they needed to slay. the two go through several things and fight there demons and you will see how it turns out.

So Much More Than I Expected!

I was intrigued by the book blurb. I was thinking this might be a Fast and the Furious meets Romance book, and it more or less is. Totally enjoyable. Street Racing is a foreign concept to me, yet I know it happens. Leslie Scott wrote a book full of action, romance, heartbreak, healing and redemption. I loved how the main characters discovered what was truly important. Giselle Lumas did a great performance with her distinguished voices for various characters and putting the right emotions into her voice. Entertaining

I got this book via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This story was entertaining from the beginning. The narrator was not to my liking but the story was good. I was sad about the death of one of the drivers. The romance was a little strange. She had been in love with him since she was a preteen and he was much older but she maintained that love and they finally got together after she grew up. He knew she was the one but waited for her to grow up. The races were described in great detail and fit right in. The whole story was entertaining even though there were some trite moments.
