Amazing Series, Amazing Readers

I am overjoyed to find audible choose to carry this Unabridged series. It is pretty much the only place anywhere you can find this extraordinary Unabridged audio series. The abridged version of this series is horrible; however this version is a true and rare audio gem. I have listened to literally a few hundred audio books in my life, most of which were either sci-fi/ fantasy and this series stands out as one of the best I?ve heard. It has exquisite readers both Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are among the best audio readers I've ever heard. As anyone who has heard audio can probably relate to, the quality of the reader is vital to the experience of the book and these are simple two of the best in the business. They capture the characters perfectly and draw you in like few other readers can. Another great and fairly unique thing this audio reading does is when the books comes from the perspective of a female character Kate gives you the female voice to match, where as if you are in the head of a male character Michael reads to give you that male feel. This makes a big difference in the whole experience, how much the reading brings the character to life and draws you into their world. Speaking of which, Robert Jordan's WOT world is one of the most vivid, complex and original world I have experienced in fantasy. The world's complexity continues to grow throughout the huge epic series. It makes you want to know what is going on in different lands almost as much as what is happening with different characters. In the first half of this series each book is better then the one before as the main characters, the world and the adventure expands. If you get a chance, please request that audible carry the rest of this Unabridged series. As of now they carry book one (The Eye of the World) and two (The Great Hunt). I guess that's about it. Enjoy, I hope you have as much fun with it as I did.

Great Book!

I really enjoyed this book. At first the narrarator was a little annoying, you could hear him breathing alot. But after an hour or two, he got much better...you could even tell the characters by the voices he gave them. I will listen to the entire series. I don't know why I waited so long to read Robert Jordan!

Fantasy Classic

Well paced, well written and likable characters. To bad the series has gone so far down hill. First 4 books of series are worth it, after that proceed at your own discretion. Get this one even if you do not plan on listening to the rest.

The Wheel of Time

Robert Jordan's series deserves all of its success. I have enjoyed reading and re-reading the books, and particularly enjoyed sharing them with others.

Audible has offered most of these titles in their unabridged format, and the readers are excellent. Kate Reading and Michael Kramer are superior in their interpretations of Robert Jordan's characters.

It is quite regrettable that Audible does not offer the whole unabridged series, and I hope this oversight will be corrected to the benefit of thousands of listeners

Great fantasy novel!

I'm usually much more of a sci-fi fan but took a gamble on this book due to the many good ratings it has received. This book is fantastic... perhaps a bit drawn out in spots but it is an excellent story which sets up an entire world of fascinating characters and events. The characters are realistic and fleshed out, reacting in believeable patterns to incredible situations. I'm now listening to the whole series and easily enjoying it as much as the Lord of the Rings series. Definitely worth checking out!

Love wheel of time, and the start is the best

While perhaps the series goes longer than needed, the first 8 books are all solid and enthralling reads that I could reread again and again, and the performances by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are wonderfully done. They are easily my favorite speakers so far and I can’t recommend them enough.

Great story, Great performance

I am listening to the Robert Jordan series again. I prefer to listen to them rather than read them due to the lengthy descriptive paragraphs that felt tedious but well written. When I listen to those same descriptive paragraphs, I feel that they truly build a picture in my head.

I love the first book in the series because I get to meet the characters when they are sweet, young and trusting. I love reading how they change over time and how they become strong through trials but there is something wonderful about the innocence of the first half of the first book that I love.

MY FAVORIE

THIS IS AN AWESOME ADVENTURE1 I COULOD NOT STOP MYSELF FROM LISTENING TO THE STORY THROUGHOUT THE PAST HOLIDAY! THE BOOK IS SO INTERESTING, WITH INTRIGUE, DARING ESCAPES, COLORFUL CHARACTERS WITH PERSONALITIES THAT SOON HAD ME BELIEVING THEY WERE REAL. THE STORY ITSELF KEPT MY IMAGINATION AT ITS PEAK FROM BEGINNING TO END. THE FLOW OF THE STORY KEPT ME IN THE ADVENTURE; CROSS WITH MATT FOR TALKING-S0-MUCH; AND FRUSTRATED WITH RYAN FOR QUESTIONING JUST ANYTHING! I BECAME SO MUCH INTO THE STORY THAT I FOUND MYSELF ALL BUT SHOUTING (ALOUD)TO MATT FOR HIM TO "LISTEN" OR HE WOULD GET OTHERS AND HIMSELF IN MORE DANGER!I WAS SWO MUCH INTOT HE STORY AS IT WENT ALONG, THAT IT SEEMED AS THOUGH I WERE ACTUALLY WITH CHARACTERS AND LOST WITH THE CHARACTERS AND ABLE TO HAVE THEM LISTEN TO ME!
THIS BOOK IS A GREAT BOOK THAT REVEALS SO VERY MUCH TURNS AND CURVES, SUSPENSE AND ENERGY THAT I TOO, WANTED TO REST WHEN THE CHARACTERS NEEDED TO REST. I BECAME ACGRY AND ANNOYED WITH MATT FOR TAKING THE KNIFE; ANXIOUS WITH RYAN FOR ASKING SO MANY QUESTIONS AND SAYING TOO MUCH WHEN ANSWEREING A QUESTION ASKED OF HIM. I FOUND MYSELF IN THE DARK, RUNNING FROM "FADES" AND OTHER DANGERS; CLIMBING, RIDING HORSES, BEING FEARFUL AND SLIPPING FROM DANGEROUS SITUATIONS.
THIS NOVEL IS SO WONDERFUL IT IS DIFFICULT TO WRITE A TRUS REVIEW OF IT.
MY ONLY NEGATIVE COMMENT WOULD BE THAT I WANTED THE STORY TO CONTINUEFOR ANOTHER 53 CHAPTERS. INSTEAD OF HEARING "THIS IS THE LAST CHAPTER", I HOPE THA AUTHOR WILL HAVE FUTURE CHAPTERS FOR THE MANY ADVENTURE OF THE 8 CHARACTERS. THERE APPEARS TO BE A WEALTH OF REASONS WHY "WHAT HAPPENS NEXT" COULD CONTINUE IN THIS CIRLCE OF LIFE..LIGHT AND DARKNESS...I DO HPE SO1
IN THE MEANTIME, I AM OFF TO PURCHASE THIS ADVENTURE IN THE HARDCOVER BOOK1..THANKS

Not for me

I wanted to try other Fantasy stories after listening to Joe Abercrombie's books. This seems too "Young Adult" or just not gritty enough for what I was looking for. The other reviews for this book are great, I am thinking I am just not really a fantasy fan.

I can't wait to get the book 2!

I am a bit of a fantasy snob -- not much grabs me or impresses me. Wow, did this book get my attention. I found myself making excuses to sit in my car a bit longer so I could find out what happened next!
