About this listen

Nash Richards was my first everything. First boyfriend, first time, first love. First heartbreak, too.

In a former life, I used to religiously attend Lakeside U's hockey games. Then my ex-who-shall-not-be-named—the team's top defensive enforcer—cross-checked my heart into the boards, and I haven't set foot in that arena since.

But when fate conspires against me, I'm assigned to complete my senior athletic training internship with Nash's team, and forced to work closely with the only guy I've ever loved. You know, the one who skated out of my life without looking back.

After what happened last time, I know better than to fall for him again. Not to mention, there's a strict no-fraternization policy between trainers and their athletes. Problem is, our chemistry is hotter than ever—and he's determined to win me back.

Before we know it, the boundaries begin to blur until we can't see them anymore. But with so much on the line, I'm risking a lot more than just my heart this time.

Great story… terrible narrator

The guy narrator was okay, but the female… was terrible!!!! Great story, I hope they pick new narrators for the next book.

Okay storyline terrible narration

The story was a little slow the first half of the book. But picked up at the end and overall was a decent listen. However, almost couldn’t make it through with the female narration. She was way too whiny and said everything in a question form, very odd.

Nash and Violet 💜

Reread in March 2024 as audio

Audio is not the greatest, the female narrator was difficult to listen to. Overall though the story is good, and it kept me pushing through. If this was my initial read though I think I would have had to quit the audio.

Second chance romance is not my favorite, but there is something about this book that I just love. I do think the reason for their initial breakup freshman year is a bit weak . . .

I love the growth that Nash exhibits through the book. He’s aware enough that he’s creating his own pain and works through it to find happiness and break generational cycles.

Plus biscuit 🥹🐶💜

poor female narration

A narrator can ruin a good story and sadly this the case here. the female narrator is bad for various reasons ( sounds like a much older than college age, intonations are very odd, etc). Male narration is better but still teeters on sounding like a book being read.

The story seemed bland but I think the female narrator also played a part in that

No a fan of the female narrator. I feel like the story was drawn out too much & was shocked when I felt bored to see there was still 5 hours left

Narrator

Ya…. Skip the audio for this. The female narrator actually made me want to scream. I will never listen to a book with this narrator again. It was a good story and the author is an amazing writer, it’s a shame the audio ruined it. Pls, save yourself from the audio because I didn’t listen to any of the reviews

Good story. Female narrator? Not so much

I almost stopped listening by chapter 3. The female narrators voice just grated on my nerves constantly. She’s so whiny and sing-songy, and she sounds like someone doing a caricature of a flaky, melodramatic, whiny girl. The male narrator was perfectly fine, thank goodness.

As for the story itself, it was pretty good. I felt like there was buildup in places without any follow through though, and red herring-like drama or potential drama in places that were unnecessary though. It kind of left me with an overall impression of “that’s it???”, which is kind of disappointing. It felt like there was a lot of potential for the story to reach go deeper than it did, and it just felt incomplete in a lot of ways.

Mid hockey romance

The story was cute. The female narrator kind of sounded like a whiny Jennifer Coolidge though what was up with that

Great book, bad narrator

I read the book first on kindle and decided to try the audiobook just to kill time at work. The female narrator absolutely ruins the story. Her tone never matches up with how lines should be given and it makes the female character sound so much older. Totally ruined the audio but I LOVED the book if I was just reading it.

Decent story

The female narrator sounds a little like Kristen Wiig impersonating an old woman. I found it hard to take in the story over her narration. Outside of that, story was ok. Pretty good if standard “he’s enormous, she’s tiny but full of enormous emotions” sports romance.
