Historia
The Book of the Dead is an ancient Egyptian funerary text written on papyrus and used from the beginning of the New Kingdom. The book was placed in the coffin or burial chamber of the deceased, and was part of a tradition of funerary texts which includes the earlier Pyramid Texts and Coffin Texts, which were painted onto objects, not written on papyrus. A number of the spells which make up the Book continued to be separately inscribed on tomb walls and sarcophagi, as the spells from which they originated always had been.

Given the abundance of funerary artifacts that have been found within the sands of Egypt, it sometimes seems as though the Ancient Egyptians were more concerned with the matters of the afterlife than they were with matters of the life they experienced from day to day. This is underscored most prominently by the pyramids, which have captured the world’s imagination for centuries.

Historia
The history of the tablets translated in the following book is strange and beyond the belief of modern scientists. Their antiquity is stupendous, dating back some 36,000 years. The writer is Thoth, an Atlantean Priest-King, who founded a colony in ancient Egypt after the sinking of the mother country. He was the builder of the Great Pyramid of Giza, erroneously attributed to Cheops. In it he incorporated his knowledge of the ancient wisdom and also securely secreted records and instruments of ancient Atlantis.

I could bypass the lack of depth (especially because it is a beginner's guide) and dismiss the poorly developed textual structure of the book (and that is coming from someone whose first language isn't English, fyi). But I CANNOT forgive the AI Narrator! I can't stand it! We should never normalize this type of practice. It is insufferable! Companies should stop using this God awful resource to save some money, at the expanse of giving its costumers headaches. I don't care if people believe "technology is getting better", "it really sounds human and organic". Let me tell you something: it doesn't! There's a part where it calls the God "Ra" literally "R - A", as spelling the two letters. I mean.... Unacceptable! A true human being hired as a narrator would've NEVER committed this mistake. I only noticed the "Narrated by Virtual Voice" after getting the book. I will NEVER acquire another book that has this kind of accompanying description. It took me ages to listen to this "easy peasy" book because of the narrator. The text itself doesn't help much, but the virtual narrator just makes it insufferable.
Mediocre at best
