About this listen

What's a girl to do when her father, known as Devil Desmond, is one of the most infamous rogues in all of England?

Delilah Desmond is not happy. To provide for her, her father has sold his memoirs, filled with scandalous and embarrassing exploits - effectively ruining her chances for a suitable marriage, so she can support her family while saving her father from disgrace.

But it seems the manuscript is in demand by all sorts of unscrupulous persons, and preventing its publication is going to be impossible; especially now that it has been stolen.

Can the hot-tempered Delilah and her very unwilling accomplice - absent-minded, bookish, Jack Langdon with his soft grey eyes and tousled hair - salvage the disaster? It appears that deceptively quiet Jack may have a core of steel - and be the one man smart and strong enough to be the hero she'd been hoping for all along.

early Loretta Chase seeds of the perfection to com

there's a glimpse of the Lord perfect and Mr Impossible here. The humor and machinations of LC are evident. Yet it's too complicated and goes on way too long without adding anything new.
The narrator is also just not quite. . she's fine just not 5 stars

A truly wonderful regency romance

Where does The Devil's Delilah rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is the way regency romances used to be -- or should be. Full of manners and conversation. A little adventure. Great characters. And subtle, delicious humor.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked all the characters, but relate most to Delilah. She's trying so hard to be a 'society miss' , but her strong intelligence, self reliance and temper get in the way. Jack is a wonderful hero, showing that not all heroes have to rakes. I especially appreciated the dry wit of Devil Desmond, Delilah's father.

tinny sounding

The recording is poor quality. The narrator is competent if a bit bland. Loretta Chase is brilliant as always.

Highly entertaining!

Any additional comments?

I was very much looking forward to another Loretta Chase audiobook. She never disappoints and this was highly entertaining, full of humor and utterly enchanting. I am very, very much looking forward to the Carsington Series and the rest of the Scoundrels Series!!

Amazing chemistry between Jack and Delilah

I loved this book! Jack was so sexy and Delilah drove him nuts in a good way. Definitely will read again!

Alas, my last unread, Loretta Chase book!

Loved it! Filled with charm & humor.
What I liked: The characters were appealing - a strong, self-sufficient, amusing heroine (who of course happens to speak Latin, Greek & Arabic!), a muddled, bookworm hero (not typical Loretta Chase), a villain with the face of an angel, who isn’t really a villain, a real villain who pays his dues in the end. One of my favorite characters was Delilah‘s father. With a few deft strokes, Miss Chase was able to convey the picture of man who was charismatic, dangerous and likable. He was a bit of a heartthrob in his own right.
When I didn’t like: The tinny quality of the audio recording. Although Stevie Zimmerman did a fine job with the narration, her efforts were undermined by the poor quality recording. Come on on Audible, it’s time to give the older Loretta Chase books the sound quality they deserve.

great performance and story,

The story is very beautiful and heart warming, abs the performance reflects this. A great listen that had me smiling through out.

Sound quality is terrible!

The book would have been really cute but just couldn't get past the terrible sound quality.

Another great story from Loretta Chase

Ignoring the poor production quality is a must. I really wanted Jack to stop being so proper in Viscount Vagabond and felt bad for him when he lost the girl. So I really enjoyed that he gets his own story and all his moments of "losing his cool" in The Devil's Delilah. I found it quite comical that Delilah could really get under his skin and shake up his composure. It was a fun story and as always the dialogue really draws you in.

Less sexual description

I really like this writer after heavy ready or war stories. It’s a nice break from that. But, I don’t like all the sex Sean’s in most of her books. I have to fast forward through it
