About this listen

Washington Irving paints an effulgent portrait of the New England countryside as Tom Walker walks with the Devil. Would you dare to bargain with the Devil for your soul?

This audiobook also includes "Hurst of Hurstcote", by E. Nesbit. Here, a young man is so stricken by the passing of his wife that his sanity begins to stray. And, as madness spreads its paralyzing influence over him, he unearths a shocking conclusion.

Two Stories in One

This book has two stories in one. The first one: The Devil and Tom Walker is basically about greed and a deal made with the devil.

The second one is about a mans undying love for his wife, even against his friend, whom is a doctor, wishes.

Very entertaining.

Being a fan of Washington Irving's works, "The Devil and Tom Walker" was particularly enjoyable. The story and the narrator were both outstanding. I'm less familiar with the other of the follow on story, Hurst of Hurstcote, and its author, Edith Nesbit. Nesbit was apparently a socialist and lived a dissolute life. She was mainly known for writing children's stories. Although a foolish woman in her personal life, she did seem to have a talent for writing; at least, Hurst of Hurstcote was good.

Go to the Devil

Great Washington Irving story from the Seventeen hundreds. Seems like there was a lot of interest in the devil during this time period. B.J. does a fine job narrating this classics and for the price how can you go wrong.

Boring....

Narration excellent, but the story was boring and confusing. Was hoping for something different I guess.

Love the classics

Really enjoyed listening to these stories. They are both kind of short, both together are just a little over an hour. So they are great if you need to kill a little time.
