About this listen

Continuing the impressive debut fantasy series from author Peter V. Brett, The Desert Spear is book two of the Demon Cycle, pulling the reader into a world of demons, darkness and heroes.

The Deliverer has returned, but who is he?

Arlen Bales, formerly of the small hamlet of Tibbet’s Brook, learnt harsh lessons about life as he grew up in a world where hungry demons stalk the night and humanity is trapped by its own fear. He chose a different path; chose to fight inherited apathy and the corelings, and eventually he became the Painted Man, a reluctant saviour.

But the figure emerging from the desert, calling himself the Deliverer, is not Arlen. He is a friend and betrayer, and though he carries the spear from the Deliverer’s tomb, he also heads a vast army intent on a holy war against the demon plague… and anyone else who stands in his way.

This book fixed alot of the problems with the first book while still keeping it dark fantasy. and the world is darker then ever.

Great story!

Where does The Desert Spear rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

really well, very good narration and great pace. The story lends itself perfectly for audio.

Any additional comments?

However, sometimes the narrator seems to pronounce names very weirdly. Giselle like 'grizzle' for example. It took me out of the story a bit sometimes. Still, loved it on the whole!

Good

Good story. Well narrated. The narrator - swallowing intermittently - is just slightly distracting. Overall well done

Very sexist

It is just a very sexist book. It is sad as the story is interesting.

First book. Gave us new lore

This book was so dragged out, it was painfull.
Felt like the author got tips from someone to make the book longer and more books. Slowing down the books peace even more.

It is very very seldom I quit a book series this way. But it is not worth the money or time to continue this series
