About this listen

Throughout the years, dental health has often been characterized as a reflection of our overall health, where bad oral health results from issues with other parts of our body. But what if we flipped the paradigm? What if we thought about dental health as the foundation for our physical health as a whole?

Dr. Steven Lin, an experienced dentist and the world's first dental nutritionist, has analyzed our ancestral traditions, epigenetics, gut health, and the microbiome in order to develop food-based principles for a literal top-down holistic health approach. Merging dental and nutritional science, Dr. Lin lays out the dietary program that can help ensure you won't need dental fillings or cholesterol medications — and give you the resources to raise kids who develop naturally straight teeth. With our mouth as the gatekeeper of our gut, keeping our oral microbiome balanced will create a healthy body through a healthy mouth.

Dr. Lin arms you with a 40-day meal plan, complete with the Dental Diet food pyramid, exercises for the mouth, recipes and cooking techniques to help you easily and successfully implement his techniques into your everyday life. The tools to improve overall wellness levels and reverse disease are closer than we think — in our markets, in our pantries, and, most frequently, in our mouths — if not just a well-chosen bite or two away.

Absolutely awesome book!!!

Thank you so much Dr Lin for packing so much amazing and useful health information into one book. This is not actually a Dental Diet but a whole body health plan. And it is PERFECT. I'm a Natural Therapist who educates people on diet, and Dr Lin has succintly covered everything I wish I could tell all my clients in one, easy to read, fun and interesting book.

I loved the audio version, but will be purchasing the hard copy for easy referencing and to read the recipes (listening to him reading the recipes was the only boring part of the audio book! having recipes in an audio book is unusual!). Dr Lin's reading of this book is great, he's got a good voice to listen to, you can hear his passion for his work. As a fellow Australasian, I loved listening to an audiobook in a local accent. An extremely rare thing for us down under!!

This book has improved my health!

You would think this book would be dry and difficult to follow. The Dental Diet? But in reality, I learned a lot about how and why different foods contribute to or erode our health. I learned about supplements and nutrients I had never heard of. I suffer with kidney stones and poor teeth. My dentist was stunned to report that after no dental visits for 2 years (pandemic) I had no new cavities. My renal specialist was surprised to learn about vitamin K2. Also, you wouldn't think that this would make a good audio book. Not so, hearing the author speak with his Australian accent, his cultural references, and his telling of his own life's story, all contribute to the audio book being quite enjoyable to listen to while driving or working around the house.

Full of both good and bad info

Debatable on many points but overall knowledge that most need to consider especially about tongue exercises mouth posture etc. Worth your time although-the back half of the most is mostly recipes interspersed with short chapters which makes it hard to follow

Very applicable, real results, go on, try it!

I like books written from passion, curiosity, and functional useability. This is a trifecta audiobook. It's worth your time listening nand the PDF is 70 pages of great material. Go on. what are you waiting for . . . a tooth to fall out? Order it. I wish I would have 3 years earlier. Steven reads his own book and he's a down to earth dentist. I'm healthier for having read and used his material. I appreciate those reading this. Thanks, Bill S.

Life changer for me

I now make my own kimchee, sauerkraut, and other fermented foods. I pay extra for grass fed beef. My husband and I both experienced much improved mouth health after reading this book and putting the teaching to work. I am expecting ever further reaching health consequences. Thank you Dr. Lin. This is an outstanding book. Blessings to you.

Great book, missing key airway dental aspects

The book talks about the typical things you hear such as lowering sugar, eating Whole Foods, and then addresses ancestral eating and cites Weston a price which is awesome. I really like how in the dental diet-oxygen is the number one nutrient and he gives breathing and even tongue exercises but fails to talk about fixing deviated septum, palatal expansion, double jaw surgery, myofunctional therapy and so many other aspects of airway and mouth focused health. The recipes sound awesome and various and I’m excited to try them.

Heal from the Inside Out, not "Teeth Whitener"

I applaud anyone who can carry the message of our bodies ability to heal and regenerate, as we age naturally.

Finally a discussion of root cause and how to fix it

For years I have wondered what is causing so much illness and diseases in us and The dental diet says it quite simply and beautifully. Nutrition, it has everything to do with our health. Which the very definition of the word means free from illness and injury in Webster’s.
My chiropractor has a sign that says there is no wonder the word heal is in the word health. Many on line health bloggers tell us all disease start in our gut, our digestive system, not genetic or hereditary but digestive. This book explains it all concerning our mouth and teeth. I have talked to my dentist and periodontist and refreshing to know the practitioners can learn outside the box and teach their patients.
Great read from someone who needed this years ago.
