Publisher's summary

Combining contemplative spirituality, mysticism, and cosmic wonder into an inspiring tale of self-discovery, The Day of the Space Voyager is both a fantastic adventure and a provocative parable for the 21st century.

James Parker Walker's novel shares the metaphysical wanderings of an old hermit who learns that everything he has ever known is false. His quest for the truth takes him to places he never imagined, experienced on all levels of awareness. The deeper his true identity is revealed, the more he discovers the nature of being and the meaning of life.

This intimate journey offers the reader new ways of thinking about the power of being and the importance of belonging—to those we love, to the universe, and to ourselves.

From prologue to epilogue, the book leads you to explore yourself, beliefs, and how (if) we’re connected

Each listener will have their own interpretation of the journey James Parker Walker guides them through in this story of existence and connection to self, others, and the universe. I found myself relating to the narrative on many levels, but most appreciated the various questions and perspectives I have not yet considered. James descriptively and beautifully presents new, fictious elements beyond Earth, but also weaves parts of the adventure into real locations and historical references to which I found myself googling to learn more and enhance my visual interpretation of the events. This is a trait of an engaging book that keeps you going for “just one more chapter”.

Having read the book and now listened to the audible, I discovered new interpretations of the story and the philosophical questions it raises thanks to the engaging narration by Simon de Deney. His delivery enabled me to imagine new visual depictions of the story and characters I had previously created in my mind from reading the book. This made the journey even more enjoyable and intriguing the second time around!

Go along with Will Henry and his sidekick dog, Cooper, on this imaginative and introspective voyage!

Simon de Deney’s narration brings the story to life.

When I was looking for a voice to narrate this book, I was hoping for a professional who would draw the listener into the adventure without getting in the way. I think Simon’s work on this book is absolutely brilliant and I hope listeners enjoy his crisp narration and authentic acting as much as I do. Thank you for considering The Day of the Space Voyager, a philosophical fiction meant to shine light on the wonder of this mysterious universe and what it means to belong to it.
