Publisher's summary

A dark fairy tale

As the Dark Witch's most valued and gifted dressmaker, 16-year-old Rosanna Mapleven knows all there is to know about the finest silks, the best stitches, and the most flattering patterns.

What she doesn't know is how to evict the evil fairy that possesses her or how to stop seeing the ghostly apparitions of long-ago murdered girls.

But Rosanna must find a way to succeed in both areas; else she will die, and the curse of the Winged Wight will never be broken.

Madeline Dyer's new young-adult story, a gothic fairy tale inspired by Charles Perrault's The Sleeping Beauty (1697), is perfect for fans of Marissa Meyer, Robin McKinley, and Alethea Kontis.

Beautifully dark

This book was a dark retelling of the Sleeping Beauty story but not the happy prince saves the day version, the author went back to the darker version of the fairy tale. It was good and well written, the narrator was fantastic too, her voice was perfect for this story.

Great story!!

The Curse Of The Winged Wight was an enjoyable quick read! Great characters and the mystery of the curse had me guessing (and a little on edge) up to the end!
Audio narration was well done and enjoyable!

Interesting Twist on a Classic Story

I enjoyed the story in The Curse of the Winged Wight. I’ve always loved fairy tales and this retelling was well done. It had enough of the classic story to be recognizable, but enough of its own twist to not feel like I was rereading the original (which was my fear with reading a retelling).

Unfortunately, the narrator for this book just didn’t work for me. A lot of the narration felt unnatural for me, like over enunciated and too stiff. It felt more like listening to a really good voice over software than a person. I wanted to FEEL like I was being read a fairy tale and this narrator just didn’t give me that vibe. The narration was 2 stars for me. Overall, the story made the book definitely still worth listening to.

Such a Good Story

This was so good. It's a quick listen with a lot that happens, I was hooked. I love that the author used the darker version of Sleeping Beauty and gave it a nice twist.

The narration wasn't my favourite but it was a decent performance.
