About this listen

From New York Times best-selling author Penelope Ward comes a new stand-alone, second-chance story of forbidden love....

It’s natural to want the one you can’t have. And for as long as I could remember, I’d secretly wanted my brother’s best friend, Jace.

He was six years older and always treated me like the sister he never had.

Fast forward a decade.

We were all in our 20s now. Jace had moved in with my brother, Nathan, and me to help us make ends meet after our parents died.

It was just the three of us - an odd family dynamic.

Living under our roof, Jace was as bossy and protective as ever.

But he certainly didn’t look at me like a sister anymore. That was what made things so complicated.

I was pretty much hot and bothered 24/7.

And he was torn.

The signs were subtle at first. Like on movie night, I’d casually rest my leg against his, and he wouldn’t exactly shift away.

Still, I assumed he would never...go there.

Nathan would kill us.

The knowledge of that wasn’t enough to stop the inevitable, though.

Eventually our slow burn exploded.

But more than the physical attraction, we’d developed a strong connection.

We just couldn’t get caught, right?

That sounded simple.

Until it wasn’t.

This is a story of forbidden love, broken trust, and an unexpected second chance.

True love story

Jace and Farrah are two people who are in Love. They had a tough road to get to each other but it was all worth it. Penelope wrote the story very well. I love that she included highs and lows and funny comical relief. Well done Penelope, well done Sebastian and Andy.

Complicated love

Storyline was heavier than I thought it would be, but still good. Their love’s unexpected twists and unanswered questions keep you guessing. Good development of all characters and great narration. Ends on a good note. Worth the listen.

Love Farrah & Jace. Total swoon!

Penelope knocked it out of the park, again! I really enjoyed this book. Absolutely love Farrah & Jace. Hot & sexy as usual. And as always, Sebastian York & Andi Arndt did an amazing job narrating!

OMG!!!! Heaven help me!!!

I loved this book! If funny, mushy, stimulating books are your thing, then you've got to read this! Besides Sebastian Yorks voice....(fanning my face). I might have a small obsession since I look up books he narrates. Pathetic, I know...lol. Nevertheless a great read in my opinion!

Another good book by Penelope Ward

I listened to this on Audible as I worked on a project this weekend.
I love Andi Arndt and Sebastian York, they work so well together as narrators.
I also love Penelope Ward, her work alone and in combination with Vi Keeland are almost always awesome stories, this one is no exception.

The story was good, it kept you hoping for more and urging the characters on.
It was a believable story, and sometimes those are the best. I could absolutely picture this story unfolding in real life, and while I read to escape reality, sometimes I don't want to read the crazy fantasy stories that are far fetched, but instead something that could actually happen.

This is a romance, but not a full on spicy book, which was also good. Don't get me wrong, I love the spice, but sometimes you just need a good book to clear your mind.

Good Book But…

Although it was an excellent book, it was somewhat predictable, just like most love stories. Except for the brother, who could be unpleasant and occasionally came across as excessively obsessive, the characters were likeable. Everything was hurried and kind of packed in together to tie up the story after they returned to the present. How forthcoming the main character was with the young neighbor girl kind of got under my skin. She gave the girl, no who wasn't even a teenager yet, far too much information. It really didn't need to be added, in my opinion, what the child sees. The two narrators are my favorites, and I always like their interactions. That's what intrigued me about the tale.
