Winner, 2017 APA Audie Awards - Mystery

Harry Bosch teams up with Lincoln Lawyer Mickey Haller in the new thriller from number-one New York Times best-selling author Michael Connelly.

Detective Harry Bosch has retired from the LAPD, but his half-brother, defense attorney Mickey Haller, needs his help. The murder rap against his client seems ironclad, but Mickey is sure it's a setup. Though it goes against all his instincts, Bosch takes the case. With the secret help of his former LAPD partner, Lucia Soto, he turns the investigation inside the police department. But as Bosch gets closer to discovering the truth, he makes himself a target.

The Best of Connelly

I have read or listened to all of Connelly's books. This is one of his best. It was tense, provocative, scary and most all riveting.

Good story.. so-so narration..

Any additional comments?

I have always enjoyed Connelly's books, and this one is no exception. I just wish that the narrator sounded more engaged. It was a VERY blah performance..

Harry is back!

This time as a retired LAPD Detective, and is joined by his half brother, and another Connelly character I dearly love, Mickey Haller, the “Lincoln Lawyer”. Duces are wild and so are a couple of rogue cops. This is a classic Harry Bosch tale with plenty of action to go around. Another great read from Michael Connelly!! 5 stars.

Solid Michael Connelly Book. My Favorite So Far.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the Harry Bosch and Mickey Haller books this is both combined. You can't go wrong.

Have you listened to any of Titus Welliver’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've watched Titus Welliver in the Bosch series on Amazon and he nails it. He's perfect as the narrator on this too.

Awesome as Always... So Sad When It Was Over.

I love the Harry Bosch series and the latest in The Crossing I think is one of the best. I usually listen to a 10 hour audiobook in a week or so but this one like all of the other Michael Connelly books I blow through is less than 2 days because I cannot help but binge listen. And then I am so depressed when I finish it because I know I have to wait another year at least for the next book to come out and I can get my Harry Bosch fix. Actually this one has inspired me to listen to who series again.

Another wonderful novel by Michael Connelly!

Michael Connelly’s years of experience as a police reporter, in addition to his continued fastidious research, have contributed to yet another intelligent, well-written crime novel with the protagonist, Harry Bosch. A new set of problems is introduced as Bosch, now a retired police officer, has been hooked into helping his half-brother, Mickey Haller, aka the Lincoln Lawyer, to help prove that a man has been wrongfully accused and framed for murder. Bosch does not want to let any murderer go free, so he agrees to investigate the case. We accompany Bosch as he systematically goes through every detail of the murder book and the case to discover which inconsistencies need further investigation. As Bosch gets closer to the truth, more people are murdered, which only convinces Bosch that he is on the right track.

Along the way, we also see Bosch’s problems when dealing with his former police colleagues who now consider him a turncoat. He also has personal, realistic issues with his teenage daughter and with the women in his life.

I have always liked Len Cariou’s narrated versions of the Bosch series. This audiobook, however, was read by Titus Welliver, who stars as Bosch in the television series. He has an amazing voice, and I thought he did an excellent job.

Another amazing Bosch novel!

I struggle to finish some audiobooks and feel like I have to push through just to get to the end, but others, like this one, I have to try to slow down so I can enjoy the book. This book answered my question of where the series could go if Bosch was done with the LAPD and opened several new directions the series could follow. I always enjoy the books that bring Mickey Haller and Harry Bosch together and wish they all did. This was a great book and I'm looking forward to the next one.
