Publisher's summary
This gripping fictional true crime podcast delves into the story of the enigmatic Dorian Gray, a vigilante who changed the world, rewriting history in the blood of her victims. Her targets were the titans of their era—billionaires, movie stars, politicians. Dorian said they had one thing in common: they had all committed crimes against women. They were rapists, abusers, master manipulators. Dorian left evidence of their heinous offenses with their bodies, and then she vanished without a trace.
To some, Dorian was a feminist icon, a #MeToo crusader who single-handedly rebalanced the scales of sexual power. To others, she was the worst terrorist of the 21st century. But who was the real Dorian Gray? A demon or an avenging angel? Was she even human? How did one woman manage to take down the most powerful men of her generation and win?
These and other burning questions echoed through the internet since Dorian's disappearance, until now. Speranza, a relentless young journalist, is determined to unravel the pure and simple truth on her podcast, The Crimes of Dorian Gray. Unfortunately for Speranza, the truth is seldom pure and never simple.
Written and directed by Arvind Ethan David and produced by Prodigal, The Crimes of Dorian Gray is a radical reinvention of Oscar Wilde's gothic masterpiece, exploring the question he asked 150 years ago: what does it mean for the powerful elite to live without consequences? What does it say about the society that allows them? Executive Produced by Milena Govich, Amanda K. Price, and Lexi Underwood, the show’s extraordinary cast includes Lexi Underwood, Lara Pulver, Richard Schiff, and Neil Brown Jr., and an original song by ASCAP winning composer Erran Baron Cohen, performed by Olivier Award winner Lara Pulver.

Story
In The Worst of You, just-wed architects Timo and Nia flee a murder scene, setting in motion a chain reaction of lies and betrayals that threaten to unravel everything they have built together. Twisted and propulsive, this thriller is told from the alternating perspectives of the couple and those close to them on Williwaw Island, each with their own motive to use the outcome of the murder case to their advantage. When a huge storm sweeps up the coast, trapping everyone on tiny Williwaw Island, it’s a race against time—and the elements — to stop the murderer from striking again.

Story
It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

Can the music
As a fan of the original Portrait novel I really liked this feminist spin on the story but (sorry I can’t hold back) that horrible song you made us listen to in between episodes was honestly laughable it was so bad. I knew it must be telling me part of the story but I could t bear listening to it.

Nothing Much
It's ok if you're just looking for background noise. I found it to be a bit predictable.

good mystery
i really enjoyed the narrative, and the story will probably make some of us old time feminists happy. a wish to see an end to the whole power and manipulation society is so OLD, why aren't we women doing more?
sigh, it's a good story! i am too old, i get pissed off by good stories like this, because it makes me forget about the real world for a while!
thanks, and have a great day, i say!

Wonderful listen if you like the original
This story was excellent. Even though I guessed part of the ending, the other part and the acting/reading it out was delightful. Since I loved the original story by Wilde, this adaptation or extrapolation was spot on.
The music at the end of every act got to be a bit much for me as did the intro to each act.

Good listen
I liked the story. I like the theme song… but I must be honest I didn’t love the singers voice. Though…her voice is in my head. It is memorable. Feels like a 80s show theme that becomes iconic and you just can’t forget.

Not a bad way to spend a few hours
This is.... fine. The acting was decent, especially given the material. Why they couldn't get a child to voice a supposed 6-year-old is odd, but nevertheless, it's good enough to accompany you while you do some dishes. The supernatural parts were kind of interesting except too many holes and not enough mystery. The tloose ends got wrapped up too easily and some of it came across as silly. Maybe an extra episode or 2 would have helped. Either way, not a classic, but if you are ok with some silly camp, intentional or not, this may be your bag.

Feminism on steroids
Glad I took a chance. Some of the reviews were not complementary but others were very much so.
As this is based on a graphic novel it definitely has that vibe. I enjoyed the story, the performance, and the music.
Everything meshed superbly.

Woman Power
A really great quick listen, though because it’s short it doesn’t dive to deep into the characters. All in all it kept the reader engaged.
