About this listen

Escape to the seaside village of Little Pondale with parts one and two of this heartwarming and romantic four-part serial.

Mia Ward is amazed to learn she has inherited her great-aunt Matilda’s thatched cottage in the tiny seaside village of Little Pondale - especially as Mia didn’t know she had a great-aunt. She’s even more astonished to discover she’ll inherit the place only if she actually lives there for one year.

Mia’s a city girl at heart, not to mention she’s afraid of water, so the fact the cottage backs onto a sandy beach is not a bonus. When her best friend, Ella, and Ella’s brother, Garrick, offer to help her move and settle in, Mia decides to see this as a new beginning.

It may also be the start of an exciting adventure because now Mia wants to know just who, exactly, was Great-Aunt Matilda. But it soon becomes clear that someone is trying to make sure Mia doesn’t stay in Little Pondale.

I really tried…

Is Ella supposed to be a grown woman or a 5 year old? I really can’t tell. And Mia comes across as an entitled, unintelligent, rude snob. I tried to keep going, but calling it quits on chapter 29. I might come back some day and try to finish it.

Exactly What I Needed

Was looking for a nice, cozy story now that the autumn leaves are falling. This is like curling up with a cup of tea and a blanket on a rainy day. The narrator is new to he but she has a very pleasant voice and her pacing is perfect for a story teller. This unwinds anxiety and instead seems like a interesting tale as regaled by a good friend or favorite relative.

Amazing book

One of the best books I ever listened to. So many genres all in one book. Wish there were more in the series. Looking for more by this author.

wanted to like this

REALLY wanted to like it - had all the elements I was looking for: good narration, charming setting. but the main character was unbelievably stupid (and entitled). and there were inaccuracies that were blatantly poor research. not to mention the ridiculously ott inheritance (overplayed).
tbh it reads like an entitled teenager's attempt at writing a novel. dnf - finally gave up at chapter 25 (over half way) when it became obvious it was going from bad to worse

Worst narrator ever!

I really struggled to get through what should have been and easy, enjoyable listen. The narrator was not a good match for the book and I couldn’t wait for it to end so I didn’t have to hear her voice!
