About this listen

Chapman Bouttell, a South Australian homicide detective, is assigned to investigate an apparently motiveless murder in suburban Adelaide.

But this case turns out to be something different altogether, as Chapman recognizes the victim as a member of a covert action unit - to which Bouttell himself was assigned during the Vietnam War. Soon, he discovers that three of the four survivors from his unit have met their end in a similar fashion.

Drawn into a violent conspiracy that dates back to those chaotic days, Bouttell realizes that if he doesn't act fast, he will be next. But why do they want him dead, and who is behind the mysterious group only known as The Coterie?

Frightening and realisticaly disturbing

A murder case in Adelaide leads Chapman Bouttell on an underground case of Government conspiracy at the highest level. Unearthing a malevolent operation that makes Q anon look like Disneyland, and revealing violent and disturbing action during the Vietnam War. The story, which is well written will no doubt leave you with a feeling in the pit of your stomach. The narrators Australian accent added realism and excitement to the story.

ponderous, yet plodding

Such a mass of uninteresting details of uninspiring events told in a matter-of-fact manner and read by a man in a monotone, this book should be good for putting a listener to sleep, but the banality of it is so insipid as to be irritating as the prose moves haltingly through the most commonplace events and descriptions (the skull is hard and meant to shield the brain from hard blows, but the bullet, a point three eight, did not respect this idea).

Spare me from this tedium.
