Amazing story

You cannot deny that you feel a lot of emotions with this book. The love scenes are great! I loved this couple.

Each book in the series is my new fave

Great series! Each book is my “new” fave! Definitely worth it. Joanna Shupe perfectly combines the Gilded Age with the romance genre.

The petulance of both characters probably due to the narrators over acting and not so good voice.

The story was decent. The narrator voice was too squeaky for the female characters and overboard dramatic for male characters.

Story was excellent. Characters interesting with great chemistry. Narrator did a good job with the American characters, but failed with the English accent

Wonderful love story

The love story & passion between Katherine & Preston was very well done. I had a hard time believing Preston's backstory & his life's story. There were details that made no sense but I could overlook all that. The scenes of passion were exceptional filled with anticipation & well done.

Another great Joanna Shupe book

Joanna Shupe delivers again on the steam with the latest book in the Fifth Ave Rebels series. Her stories are always a refreshing change from the classic historical romances. Her heroines are strong, the tension between the leads satisfying. The narrator is not my favorite for male voices but the story is so good I can overcome this issue. I anxiously await the next book! Well done!

It was a pleasant shift away from many romance stories where the main characters wallow in self centered doubt and obsessive focus on their own feelings.

Sex, Betrayal, & Illogical Emotional Threads...

...that never seem to feel resolved imo for the reader. There are big gestures by characters who betray the Heroine repeatedly, but nothing that feels like justice or character adjustments. Words about the father not even waiting 6 months to f*** his dead wife's best friend - all while his daughter & he are supposedly in mourning...then removing her mother's art as if it was too painful? Yeah...he needed more acute pain & punishment targeted upon his worthless self. He got off scott-free for the betrothal, the way he treated his former partners son, & more. And the hero's weasely caustic but sexual behavior did not make him believably in love; it made him an addicted user, a hedonist person more interestedin pleasing himself with no respect for her at all. And in the end where she doesn't get her original location & she hugs her dad's new wife...well, let me tell you that it makes the reader lose all respect for the Heroine. She's weak, pathetic, & a doormat for everyone who transactionally gets their way in return for her getting leftovers, crumbs, and traditional role expectations from her. Completely dissatisfying as a story. It has many skillful elements that are always just an "almost" thread that almost lead to something real, but never really take you the reader all the way to anywhere wholly resolved.
