About this listen

Fake boyfriends for a week? Yes, please.

Carter Olson never expected he’d get a chance to date his older brother’s best friend, Rip Taylor. Wished for it? Yes. Fantasized about it? Possibly too much. But ever thought it would actually happen? Not in a million years, since Rip is straight.

But even if it’s just to try and win a gay game show, having Rip for a boyfriend - even a temporary/pretend one - is still the best thing to happen to Carter in...well, ever.

Especially because Rip’s so good at it. Amazingly good, actually. So good that Carter starts to hope that maybe it won’t have to end once the show’s over.

If there are two things Rip Taylor lives for, they’re having fun and being there for his friends, so a trip to Vegas to help surprise his best friend’s girlfriend with a big, flashy proposal sounds awesome. And even more fun? His bestie's plan to try and win some prize money for the wedding by signing the two of them up as contestants on The Boyfriend Game.

The game show is sponsored by the gay dating app bLoved, and Rip is all in. He may be straight, but he's never been narrow, and when circumstances (a.k.a. a best friend who can't hold his tequila) mean that little Carter Olson gets roped into being Rip's fake boyfriend instead, that’s almost better…because who wouldn’t be able to be a convincing boyfriend to Carter?

After all, Carter’s hella sweet. Kind of adorable, actually. And really, really easy to get into character with.

Winning The Boyfriend Game? Rip and Carter have it in the bag.

The Boyfriend Game is a gay romance novel of approximately 75,000 words that contains some confusion about tops and bottoms, a straight guy who realizes he isn’t, an ice cube that melts much too fast, and the kind of luck that can only be found in Vegas. Every Stella Starling romance takes place in the same interconnected, contemporary world, and The Boyfriend Game is a stand-alone book with cameos from other Stella Starling stories.

Hallmark Movie Material

I swear that this story needs to be a movie. it was emotional, romantic, heart warming. watching the relationship grow was beautiful (and sexy). The ending was fantastic! And the narration! My gosh, they did a fantabulous job with pacing, comedic moments, the emotional moments, and the sexy sounds. The voice inflections were just spot on! this was a great story and I really wish I could see it as a movie now.

what a book

I hated this book so much. I loved it just as equally though. absolute rollercoaster of emotions!! I found myself laughing, getting choked up, even screaming at the characters about how dense Carter really was sometimes (even Rip). That isn't easy to do to me either, I always found it hard to really get involved in books but this one really had me going. Thank you so much, worth the buy!

Great book- romantic and original

First of the all, the narrator had a nice voice and tone. He read the main character voices, Cartier and Rip, convincingly and with conviction along with being masculine and tender at all the right moments!
But the story was very original, relevant and romantic. I easily felt engaged with the main characters due to the author’s insightful and wonderful writing!
I’d definitely buy more books from her :)

Loved it even more!!

The narrator, J.R. Warlow brought a story I already loved and added so much emotion to it that you fell in love with Carter and Rip all over again. This is a must listen book!!

Predictable, but too sweet to mind

I really enjoyed this book, and the narrator does an incredible job. The story overall is a little predictable, but it's also very sweet in a way I apparently needed right now.

Amazing narrator, and almost perfect....

It's really great up to just the last few chapters where some editing and rewriting would definitely have helped. But the reader is truly EXCELLENT, one of the best I've heard. The first bedroom encounter builds to a totally sizzling climax and the reading is largely why. Audible should definitely do more of Starling's books--with the same narrator, of course!

An amazing combination of story and narrator

WOW!!! My face hurts from smiling so much. My eyes are red and puffy from happy tears (and a few sad ones). My heart rate is elevated. My nether regions are...okay I'll stop there. ;) This story was amazing. The storyline was new, to me anyway. The characters were off the charts believable with great dialogue and their love was soooo believable. I am blown away. The story is great but the narration, by J.R. Warlow is what took it to levels above and beyond. I have never listened to any other works by him but that is about to change (as soon as he does anymore). I can't even. The heat, the fun, the passion, the attitudes... he blew me away. If everyone's partner could talk dirty like Mr. Warlow can there would be a lot fewer breakups. I'm just sayin'. The combination of the story and the narration makes this an all-time favourite for me and if there was a rating level above 5 or a reserved rating for those truly awesome books, this audiobook would be there for me.

Up and down

Overall I really like this book. Has a great HEA, and the narration is very good.

In the beginning of this book I really don’t like Rip, he is a bit of an ass. He does however grow and in turn I end up liking him and Carter as a couple.
