About this listen

She’s found an unlikely consultant to help solve the crime. But this speaking pet might just prove purr-fect....

Hannah Murphy yearns for a real news story. But after a strange migraine results in an unexpected ability to talk to her cat, she must keep the kitty-communication skills a secret if she wants to advance from fluff pieces to covering felonies. And when she literally trips over a slain body, she’s shocked her feline companion is the best partner to crack the case.

Convinced she’s finally got her big break, Hannah quickly runs afoul of a handsome detective and his poor opinion of interfering reporters. And when she discovers the victim’s penchant for embezzlement and fraud, she may need more than a furry friend and a cantankerous cop to avoid ending up in the obits.

Can Hannah catch a killer before her career and her life are dead and buried?

The Body in the Park is the delightful first book in the Razzy Cat cozy mystery series. If you like clever sleuths, light banter, and talking animals, then you’ll love Courtney McFarlin’s hilarious whodunit.

Just perfect

Loved this 1st book in a paranormal cozy mystery series that was just right in tone, fun and suspenseful timing with some interesting characters with lots of room for growth. This story is just right when I’m in the mood for this genre.

Pleasant Surprise

I usually do not like books that assign human speech and emotion to animals but this book pleasantly surprised me. The narration was great, the characters likeable and the mystery excellent.

The Body in the Park

It took me a while to adjust to the narration but the story overall seems to have potential, enough so that I will most likely give the next book in this series a try. I’m an animal lover & Jazzy helped to keep me interested.

A BrezzyCozy , coupled with excellent narration

I both read and listened to the story. It follows a standard formula for cozies written since the '90s but Courtney McFarlin's writing is so breezy and natural that the end result is still highly enjoyable.
I failed to completely comprehend who all the villains were, and that adds to the enjoyment. I only got 1 of the 3 bad 'guys' right. Authors who telegraph the end spoil any reason to go on reading. McFarlin's. 'The Body in the Park' thankfully leaves you guessing until the end.
I recommend this book and commend Breena Colleen Castors narration. Her style made the book even more
pleasurable. It's not 'War and Peace' but the world of reading shouldn't always be Beef Bourguigmon, instead
sometimes a literary Key Lime Pie is also a delight.
