Disappointing.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I LOVE the Mrs Murphy novels. This one, however fell way short of the rest. Much of the time it seemed that the characters lacked any emotional caring for each other. Even the cats and dog didn't really come across as liking each other. Many of the long standing characters are barely mentioned and it leaves you to wonder just what is going on. Found this book to lack the fullness and color that I have liked so much in Ms. Brown's previous entries.

Nice Read

I've listened to this several times. Love Mate Forbes performance. The story was not quite as good as others I've read. I thought some of the characters could have been more fully developed. Overall, a good read. I could easily recommend this book. No foul language, which is found in so many books, that would otherwise be entertaining.

The Big Cat Nap Rita Mae Brown

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes if they have read the rest of the series...The Gist of the main characters are present...
They're just a little shallow...

What about Kate Forbes???s performance did you like?

She has read so many of the books, that she is the voice of the story...

Harry's new fine Mess.....

Any additional comments?

I'll always enjoy Rita's books...I just like some more than others...this was enjoyable but not the best...

Harry becomes facenated with a race car and ...

perturbed at the constant fighting between her cats and dog! MS Brown keeps this book at a very low and slow level. The conversations about the insurance company and car repair garage are very reveling, The fact Harry and her friends discover the first body minutes after the murder occurred is a huge surprise! Peuter finally gets her paws on her hated Blue Jay, and... Read the book and find out what happens!

Always a Fan of Rita Mae Brown & Sneaky Pie Brown

Would you listen to The Big Cat Nap again? Why?

Yes I would I enjoy the animal chatter and Harry always confuses me with the way she thinks. But she does solve the case. I also enjoy the friendships between all the women in the book.

If you’ve listened to books by Rita Mae Brown before, how does this one compare?

Yes, I will listen to this again in the future sometime. I figure this one out way before Harry did and I usually don't.

What does Kate Forbes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She just has all the people down. You know as soon as she starts to talk who she is.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I think when all the animals were trying to get them to follow them to the body. We so often dismiss our animals, when they really have something to show or say.

Any additional comments?

I have love this series from the begining, also Sister Jane and her new series is good too. Rita Mae Brown I don't think she writes these as deep thinking (even though some have made me think hard) but for our entertainment. And I can truly say I have always been entertain.

Continuity Issues

The continuity issues in this series are starting to really bother me. Where did Miranda's boyfriend go? Not only did he disappear but it's like he never existed. And Johnny Pop. Her father did not destroy the tractor. Harry used him for years after her father died. There are more. sigh. it really feels like this is a different author.

Only for revisiting old friends

Only recommended for those who've become attached to the cast of characters in previous books. Most of the joys of this work are in the descriptions of the animals and the glimpses into the continuing lives of old friends.

Good story with continuity issues

I enjoy the Mrs. Murphy books a lot but continuity issues are annoying. In this book Harry’’s parents died when she was in her twenties, In other stories they were killed in an accident when she was a junior at Smith. There are other discrepancies scattered among the books, such as Boom-Boom having graduated from high school 2 years ahead of Harry but being in the same class in “Pawing Through the Past.” Such a talented writer should be able to keep the story straight.

Keep up with the Crozet gang!

Would you try another book from Rita Mae Brown and/or Kate Forbes?

I'm a big Rita Mae and Sneaky Pie Brown fan. I think some of the more recent books are a little weaker than the older ones, but I can still find much enjoyment in the Crozet (Harry Harristeen)series.

Kate Forbes does a wonderful job narrating. I enjoy her voice changes for the characters. Without being over dramatic, you forget that one person is reading every character's lines.
