Fast-paced and engaging

I've enjoyed most of this author's work, but I've always found the first 75% (or close to it) of each book to be superior to what follows. This tale began with a vivid, realistic description of a woman slowly realizing that she was being being harmed by a con artist. Her preoccupied husband, whom she looks to for support, dismisses her fears and suggests she seek psychiatric help. What a great premise for a page-turner! I guess it's hard to keep up this level of realism until the conclusion.

One critique of the performance: It would have been better to have had a narrator who could do an American accent when called for.

Good but....

Overall good book that kept me listening and engaged in the story. It is Shalini Boland's usual style, which I like very much and does not disappoint in that way. I don't want to say much because I hate a spoiler, but a husband who doesn't stand by his wife more than this one does, is not a "good man". I would want to find someone better to spend my life with than one who turns his back when you need him most and is too stupid and blind to see when his wife and son are being mistreated. That part just didn't work for me.

Lifetime Movie or Book?

“Lifetime movie, or book?” is what you’ll most likely be asking yourself once you reach the end of this, or honestly, any of Boland’s books. I’ve only read two of her books and they’re both great reads. I just wonder if her other reads are a tad different than these, considering they both had similar endings. Either way, I’d recommend.

Very satisfying!

Kept me thoroughly entertained! I could not disagree more with the person who recently gave this book such a poor rating. She must be thinking of a completely different book!

Good read

Overall not bad. At first the main character annoys you because of how naive and weak she is until you see her character starts to grow. But i guess thats how life is your experiences mold you and let you gain insight sight.

The beginning was phenomenal.

First 1/3 of the book was so riveting! Then it fell flat-the main character kept asking herself questions repeatedly the rest. However, the first part was perfectly written!
