About this listen

"You know those people who always radiate cheerful optimism? Nauseating, aren't they?" So proclaims Isabel Losada, Starbucks addict, exercise-allergic and self-confessed sceptic as she sets out on the road to enlightenment. This work is suitable for those who have been tempted to dip a toe in the waters of self-discovery.

Comedic Overview of Self-Help

I finished listening to this in about a week. I may have even retained some of it.

The author is a trained actress and gives a very entertaining reading. She took a bunch of self-help courses and writes about them. She's funny, but she took the courses seriously. One section discussed different forms of massage she tried.

If you're interested in New Age or self-improvement, I think you'll like it. It gives an informative overview of avenues of exploration. It's also just entertaining, and you could enjoy it as a memoir.

A Deeply Wise and Very Funny Book

If you could sum up The Battersea Park Road to Enlightenment in three words, what would they be?

Wise, Funny, Lovely

What did you like best about this story?

This story covers many of the attempts in our modern life to find happiness through the many byways of psychology, medicine, and spirituality. It is a very funny and wise book, that has a serious side, but, which never takes itself too seriously.

What about Isabel Losada’s performance did you like?

Isabel Losada is a born performer and her narration is miles ahead of most authors. In fact, she has a second career as a narrator here on audible, should she care to pursue it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I learned a lot from this book and it made be think. All this reflection, thank God, was punctured from time to time by a good laugh.

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this lovely book for a vastly entertaining 8 hours.
