A great look at the founding of our country using the actual writings of our Fathers. The story tells details missed in history books and is written in a manner that is easy to read and feel the emotions interspersed in the text. I found it hard to set down and can't wait to read the next volume. If you like history, this is a must read.

This audio book was appropriately paced and had good narration. The story was well done and it is a good and thorough account of the events. This is a great listen to refresh yourself before visiting the areas where these events happened.

A Good Historical Account

I read and loved American Colonies, this is a great read right after that. Very thoughtful and resourceful - many details I haven't heard before. My strong recommendations for history lovers.

Can't get enough from Captivating History.

One of the best books on American history I have ever read. Incredibly comprehensive, it sets the context of the founding of the country by explaining what was going on internationally, in the West Indies, with the Indians and in the minds and hearts of the people living in the 18th century. Read this to appreciate that the United States is truly an experiment and we are still experimenting.

One of the best book on American history.

It is a good experience here. The style, quite frankly, was choppy and left me cold and disinterested. There are just too many better books like John Feeling's "Whirlwind" and Middleman's "The Glorious Cause" that make for a much better presentation if you are looking for an account on how and why the Revolution was fought.

My first experience here.

I have just finished The American Revolution and loved it. As a history major in college I have been forced to read a great number of textbooks on the subject and found this help put events in order and clarify the many facets of this most moments event in our nation's history.

Outstanding Book

general layout given on the times leading up to the Revolutionary War and the times thereafter...would love to have detailed battle encounters but that is in other books I reckon. a good read/listen

everything you need to know...

I thought I understood this time period but learned I was grossly under-informed prior to reading this book. Take the time, read this, and learn even how much of today's civil and political environment can be traced back to this time period.

My strong recommendations for history lovers

In his other books much of the action is centered around battles, that is not the case in this book. Much of the action is centered around the behind the scenes stories that led to the battles. I was very impressed with that aspect of it. Anyone who is even slightly interested in how the the revolution came about will be hooked from page one. Highly recommended this book.

Well rounded book

The author stays faithful to historical facts; but his incredible ability to delight in storytelling, is reminiscent of stories from a favorite uncle over a camp fire one wishes would never end.

A treat in the absolute!
