When Howard Duff, radio’s regular Sam Spade, was dropped from the show, Steven Dunne donned the trench coat. Story
Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar debuted in 1948 and endured for 14 years as one of the most popular programs of latter day radio drama. In fact, it became the last network drama when it ultimately signed off the air in 1962. An eminently appealing character, Dollar was pragmatic, flirtatious, and sympathetic (to a point) - better at reserving judgment than he was at restraining his impulses. This set brings you the voices of all eight men who took on the role of "America's fabulous freelance insurance investigator" - from the well-known to the obscure.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

SERIOUS TECHNICAL ISSUES. DON'T BOTHER.....
Raymond Chandler is a master. These vintage radio shows are a classic. However, for reasons which defy explanation, Audible has chosen to sell a product which is technically flawed. Not just the popping and scratching expected from old audio products. The problem here is that each story suddenly cuts off BEFORE the performance is completed - oftentimes in the middle of the much-awaited summary of the crime investigation. It makes no sense! Just sheer negligence and lack of quality control from Audible.com. This is not book costing $4.95, $7.99 or even $10. The cost is a credit or over $20 with tax. UNCONSCIONABLE! Next stop for Phillip Marlowe: REFUND!!! I can hear these same stories on Old Time Radio podcasts free of charge. What a disappointment!
