About this listen

With insight and humor, Dr. Philipp Schott shares tales from the unlikely path he took into his career of veterinary science and anecdotes from his successful small-animal clinic. Dr. Schott brings to his writing the benefit of many years of expertise. Wisdom he imparts on listeners includes the best way to give your cat a pill, how to prevent your very handy dog from opening a fridge, and how to handle your fish when it has half-swallowed another.

Through these and other experiences, Dr. Schott also learned that veterinary medicine is as much, if not more, about the people as it is the animals. And he will have you laughing and crying as you embark on this journey of discovery with him.

Loved it!!!!!!!

Well written and fascinating stories about his life as a veterinarian, and how he came about, and all the inner workings of his experiences throughout his career. Jeremy.

Hilarious

Heartfelt and funny, the stories are all amazing and of can’t-put-it-down kind. Too short sometimes! Only real life and only animals can do it so effectively, make us feel, laugh and cry along with them, and want them to last, to stay, but they can’t… Wonderful, even when sometimes gross, but it’s life, right? All things happen 😉

Woof, Meow, Hiss and Quack

I am definitely a person that tends to like non humans better than many humans. My upbringing probably had a lot to do with that. We had a large assortment of animals over the years and I have always had a liking for all the "vets" my beasties have seen. This book is basically in two parts. The first part tells of how Philip Scott happened to become a veterinarian. It started with a gerbil. Dr. Scott goes on to tell what a veterinary practice is really like and answers questions about it such as 'why is a visit so damn expensive.' The second part is delightful stories about some of his patients and their people. If you are a pet owner, you will love this little book.

Not what was described.

Not a bad book, just not how it’s described. It reads more like a simple veterinary primer for pet owners. Not a book of stories form the Author’s years as a veterinarian.
