From ancient times, women and men who practiced healing, divination, and other forms of magic were often revered. However, as societies evolved, these practitioners faced increasing scrutiny and persecution. The term "witch" began to take on a darker connotation, largely due to the societal fears of the unknown and the supernatural. The witch's image transformed from a wise gure of folklore to a malevolent entity associated with curses and dark magic, particularly in European contexts during the medieval and early modern periods.
