About this listen
Heaven has fallen, leaving behind a scarred visage of the world. The lands are now crawling with all manner of vile creatures: demons, werewolves, vampires, and other unimaginable horrors; all competing to control their own little niche in this new world. Humanity’s only defense against such evil are the hunters; men and women who stand face-to-face against all things that go bump in the night.
Rod Calaway, a hunter of the southern territories, nicknamed the No Leaf Clover, tirelessly wanders the Wasteland eradicating these foul creatures in hopes of one day restoring the pendulum of life back to balance. On his return home, Rod is given a new contract. One that will set in motion a series of events that will alter the world once again. The task will send Rod on a journey north to the Dark City, Orgrimdeare, where he’ll participate in a tournament to the death. With the help of a malevolent force known as the Dark One, Rod will unleash a corrupting power to defeat the evil that inhabits the Wasteland but exacting a terrible cost. All is not completely lost, for Rod’s trail leads him back to old friends, who together must face a demon that drove the rift between them years ago.

Story
This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a scream. In the remote mountains of Northern Alaska, Dr. Riley Middleton and her team of archeologists discover a burial site containing mummified remains dating to the last ice age. None of them notice the warning carved into the entrance or realize that the tomb had been deliberately sealed from the outside until they’ve already released a virus that turns ordinary people into murderous monsters. But there’s something even more terrifying inside...something ancient...something unspeakably evil.

Story
The world of Pravahs suffered from a time of darkness and genocide at their hands. These demon-instructed magi turned the skies black, led an army of the living dead and demons in a global conquest, and left miles of burned earth in their hellfire assaults. Their defeat was nothing short of miraculous. While the land remembers, people forget. The people of the continent of Stratia have dismissed the ancient "Black Decade" as myth, even while their blood runs cold with fear at the mention of the dreaded "Void Hands".

Not quite undead, though not alive either, the best he can hope for is to work off his servitude and fade away. His not-so-sacred duty as a Hand of God? Use his new abilities to hunt down demonic beings that have infiltrated the mortal realm. This time, the White Throne has sent him to the middle of nowhere: a Western town called Dead Acre with a saloon, a moldy church, and little else worth talking about. There isn’t even a sheriff.

Story
In the beginning, the gods destroyed the world. Five hundred years later, things haven’t gotten much better for humans. The demigods that were left behind to guard over humanity have been using them as fodder for an endless civil war between themselves, and the humans just go on dutifully slaughtering each other, battle after battle. It’s not all bad, though. Perry McGown makes his living off those bloody, stinking battlefields. He works on a crew that reclaims all the spent shell casings. But if anyone found out that he was a deserter from the war, he’d be executed for heresy.

Unique Fresh Take on the Apocalypse
The land is devastated and lies in ruin with demons, werewolves, vampires, and other creatures of the night and evil world hunting the innocent. No Leaf Clover must face an evil that has taken root and with one contract hit at a time, he tries to eradicate the evilness in a unique yet deadly manner. However, as a loner, he soon discovers he needs help. Lots of help!
The author, Jon L. Young has successfully created a world that we all fear in reality, but in fiction we love! The twist of “contract hits: being made on demons and other evil beings are unique and entertaining. Each character involved is created and developed in-depth adding to the richness of the story. The good guy, No Leaf Clover is by no means innocent or good, he has a dark past he is trying to outdistance. The dialogue and interaction between characters are smooth and well-defined. The plot twists are interesting and well-executed.
The narrator, C.J. McAllister delivers a wonderful performance. Each character has a voice unique to them allowing the listener to follow the story. Speaking clearly and flawlessly, McAllister is entertaining and captures the imagination of the audience. Furthermore, he clearly projects the emotions of the story throughout with tonal inflections of fear, anger, innocence, evil, and more.
Overall, this is a rare book that allows the listener to experience different supernatural beings as well as the plight of the characters.
There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook. It was clear and crisp.

Excellent entry into the genre!
I loved how the characters developed quickly. The protagonist has a dark history that I can't wait to be explored further. A new universe has been created that feels familiar but has a whole new dimension to it. The audiobook was read well and felt like it flew by. I can't wait for the sequels to come out!

Great concept and execution
This book has a unique take on the end of the world. I loved the background story of the apocalypse and how little remains in the aftermath. With a likable main character and a mission to maybe make things right again the tale drags you in like an anaconda hiding in quicksand. Before you know it you are stuck and there is no escape, but in a good way. It's not like the book can kill you, sheesh. It will keep your attention and keep you firmly planted in your seat, though.
McAllister does another fine job here. The man can narrate.
I look forward to book 2.

Suspenseful Tales
Tales from the Wasteland, the first book in the No Leaf Clover series, is an action-pack, dystopian supernatural thriller, that will have you on the edge of your seat. The characters are well-rounded, intriguing, capable, intelligent, and tough. The storyline is well-written, intense and exciting; it captured and held my attention throughout. Excellent narration by C.J. McAllister. He did a great job with the characters' voice, his inflexions and timing were on the spot. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

wow. looking forward to next book!
witcher meets fallout 4.
couldn't stop listening to this great book. it consists of many jobs/contracts that the main character takes, which all blend together to a greater story. this keeps things flowing with bite sized adventures.
did very well keeping the atmosohere alive and the monsters feeling like a constant real threat.

Arachnids, imps, and demons, oh nuts!
Mer-can-tile: the Hunter stronghold. At the beginning of the book, it mentioned that the city sign of Mercantile looked like it was fashioned from parts of other signs. I thought this was a clue to the origin of the city of Mercantile but I couldn’t figure it out. Anyone else? This was the most excitement I got out of the book. The story seemed muddled and confusing to me. Plenty of potential with the hunter and the demons but no fluidity to the tale. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
