About this listen

A memoir from the popular former Minnesota Twins All-Star and World Series hero.

In Tales from the Minnesota Twins Dugout, this fan favorite looks back at his playing career in Minnesota. Many stories revolve around the championship seasons of 1987 and 1991. Hrbek also shares his memories of the late Kirby Puckett and of his close friendship with third baseman Gary Gaetti.

Kent Hrbek’s Tales from the Minnesota Twins Dugout is a humorous, insightful, and at times heartbreaking story of one of the most memorable eras in team history, from one of Minnesota’s very own.

Editorial reviews

Homegrown talent Kent Hrbek, or "Herbie" as he is known to Twins fans, embodied the spirit of Minnesota sports unlike any other player. Funny, insightful, and refreshingly down-to-earth, Tales from the Minnesota Twins Dugout provides a candid look at the glory years of Twins baseball in the late 1980s and early '90s.

Whether describing World Series heroics or the feeling of playing in front of a nearly empty stadium, Terry Daniel expertly captures Hrbek's distinctly Midwestern tone by coloring these anecdotes with just the right amount of wit and sincerity.

More of an Audobiography of Herbie.....

I overall liked the book. Kent Hrbek has some great stories in this audiobook. If you are expecting tales of Twins past like Rod Carew, Tony Oliva or Harmon Killebrew, you will be a little disappointed. Kent Hrbek still has some great stories of his time with the club. Well worth the read for any Twins fan.

Awful and cringe worthy

I love the Minnesota Twins and I'm a life long fan. With that being said I REALLY wanted to like this book. I forced myself to keep listening, made it through about half of it, cringing the entire time and thinking....it'll get better if I just keep trying. It never got better. The narrator is one of the worst I've ever heard and the story makes Kent Hrbek sound like a buffoon. If I could give zero stars for narrator performance, I would!!
