Acerca de esta escucha

The gang wants him. The DEA needs him. Mason may be a lost kid's only hope.

Passing through Atlanta, all Army veteran Mason Sharpe wants is a break. A break from the rain. A break from the grief he's carrying. A quiet campsite beneath Georgia pines where he can wrestle his demons into silence.

Fate has other ideas.

Eager to leave the city, Mason doesn't get the cops involved when he catches a kid trying to steal his truck. Jalen is fifteen, confident and smart, but headed down an ugly path. Mason drives him home, advising him to get his life back on track.

Later that night, the DEA explode into Mason's seedy motel room. They're convinced Jalen is the key to dismantling the South Atlanta Squad – a brutal drug gang dispensing deadly fentanyl across the region.

But Mason's not buying the DEA's story. Where they see a hardened gangster, he sees a lost kid caught between a rock and a hard place.

Mason isn't looking for a fight, but he's not the kind to run from one either. He realizes there is only one way to save Jalen. Mason will confront the gang himself, and if they won't back down, he'll do what he does best – a terminal take down.

Take Down - book 2 of the superb Mason Sharpe action thriller series. Perfect for fans of Lee Child, Jason Kasper amp; David Archer.

Great story

Point blank (first book in the series) was good. Take down is amazing. The best book I’ve read this year, and I really like books. Just get it already.

Awesome story with the perfect narrator

Exciting story with great characters, and fantastic narration! After listening to the first book in this series, I knew I'd eventually go on to the second book. I'm glad I did so! This book was better than the first. It was pretty exciting but I got so sick of the slang word Bruh. I know it lended credibility to the characters but it was annoying as hell.

Great Book, Bruh! LOL

The plots of these books are so good! Mason Sharpe is like a cross between Peter Ash and Jack Reacher.

Plot

This series gets compared to Lee Child's Reacher series, and that's a fair comparison. They feature similar protagonists facing similar challenges. The difference is that this is actually good.

The idea of the traveling warrior dispensing justice while looking for his center wasn't invented by Lee Child, and it wasn't new when David Carradine was playing Kwai Chang Kane or Richard Boone was playing Paladin. There isn't much conceptually ground-breaking about this series.

But the plotting is tightly crafted and never gives the protagonist access to the "Easy Button", and it maintains momentum throughout. The details of people on both sides of the law and the way both criminals and police work are believable. And Mason Sharpe's character is a compelling protagonist. Ryles pulled me into the action and made me care about his characters in a way that is at least uncommon in action/suspense novels.

Highly recommended.

Excellent Action/Suspense

I don't usually bother with a written review but I really enjoyed this book. The story and narrator came together in a perfect combination. Audio books have two major components: story and narrator. A good narrator can boost a mediocre story but a good story rarely helps a terrible narrator. Those you just read yourself. Anyway! This book is well worth a credit. I will be waiting for the next installment of Mason Sharpe. It was a thrill.

If you like Jack Reacher then here’s another series worthy of listening to especially while crocheting/knitting!

Worthy of your ears!

Take Down is the second book in the Mason Sharp series. I would suggest listening to Point Blank first for background. I enjoyed PB so much that when i saw this book was available I snapped it right up and actually quit listening to another book 1/2 way through (I will continue with it when I’m finished with this book) so I could listen to this one.
Anyway, Mason is kind of wandering around. His fiancée was murdered and he’s a lost soul. After leaving the police department in Arizona he headed to North Carolina where he was supposed to honeymoon. After solving a murder there he moved on to Atlanta, Ga. There a teen boy tries to steal his truck. Mason can’t help himself. Instead of calling the police he wants to find out why a smart kid is getting himself into trouble. He soon learns the boy’s brother is in prison for killing an undercover DEA agent. He’s convinced his brother was set up. Soon Mason agrees and with that knowledge he has to stay and see this through to the end. He’s not the kind of man to turn a blind eye to an injustice.
Andy Ingalls does a fantastic job narrating.
This book has my VERY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!
