Tainted Wine is the second book in the Steve Daniels Mystery Series by USA Today Bestselling Author, Linda Watkins. Set in the early 1950s, the book recalls a different time, when men were men and women, well, they were something else!

"A page-turning mystery. With the blunt and declarative storytelling style of classic noir pulp, and the sharp tête-à-tête of cleverly crafted dialogue, readers are quickly immersed in the bold attitudes, old-fashioned language, and nostalgic mood of the 1950s. Tainted Wine is a quick read, but also an exhilarating one." Self-Publishing Review

Noir detective thriller
Steve Daniels is studying for the CA Bar exam and working as an investigator at a law firm. While working on the latest case involving an heiress accused of murdering a vintner at the family’s winery, Steve learns some explosive background information. As the investigation continues, he gets embroiled in the retaliation of a psychotic criminal. A very good story that has a lot of twists and turns. It’s set in the early 1950s and some of the attitudes and dialog were disturbing, such as the lawyers discussing a domestic assault case and blaming the wife because the husband beat her and maybe she deserved it. The story me on edge and very anxious. I found myself stopping the audiobook because I couldn’t continue listening to what Steve was enduring. Glad I finished it. The narration was outstanding.
