About this listen

Sword-Kin is the second of a series of three stories by Leigh Ann Hussey (1961-2006) that were originally published in Fantasy Book Magazine in the mid-1980s.

It tells the backstory of how Molnya (known as Luc'hessen in the first story) and her brother fell under a curse by a sorcerer priest after Molnya's brother rejects the priest's amorous advances.

Cover designed by Cody Rishell.

Vividly told and narrated

What made the experience of listening to Sword-Kin the most enjoyable?

It's a fast-moving, compact tale of a 'stubbornly independent' woman fighting against evil.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sword-Kin?

The heroine metamorphosed into an inanimate object, having lost her human powers, finds she has new undiscovered non-human powers.

What does Colin Hussey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great / fun narration and character voices, esp. the voice of the evil priest.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it's short and sweet.
